Meet Lisa Love

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lisa Love a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Lisa, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from a place deep within. It is a knowingness that I must go on. I move forward no matter how difficult the circumstance might be. I believe I must stay strong. For me, it helps to move my focus from the issue at hand to visualizing an outcome I want.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am an artist that designs works of art for the modern lifestyle. I specialize in ceramics, abstract paintings and sculptural pieces.

What is art?

That is a question I have often pondered since taking a college philosophy course on that very topic. I believe art is a personal choice, first a choice by the artist then a choice by the observer. Art can evoke a feeling or a memory, it can instill peace, joy, or unrest. Art can change a mood or shift the energy in one’s self or in a room. Again, art is a personal choice. When purchasing artwork for your home, forget about matching the couch, instead make it a personal choice. Select artwork that best suits you.

As an artist the underpinning of my work is that of human existence. I am driven by the quest for a more tranquil way of being for the greater good of all humanity. Through the use of color, texture, form, and function I hope to instill a sense of peace into the observer. A moment of joy for another to experience.

I have exhibited my art throughout Arizona at galleries and venues in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Sedona, Jerome and Tucson. My work is also available in the Museum Store at the Tucson Museum of Art and the Phoenix Art Museum.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The basics of my artistic journey is that of discovery. The discovery of one’s self and one’s interests play an important role as I push the boundaries in my art.

As a designer by trade I have always felt that good design can withstand the test of time. My designs skills are integral to my success as an artist.

Last but not least is intuition. My intuition serves as a guide and by following my insights I explore my full potential as an artist and ceramist.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

As an artist who specializes in ceramics, abstract painting, and sculptural pieces my ideal client is someone who appreciates good design, hand made goods, and finds joy in my artwork.
