Meet Lisa Marie

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lisa Marie . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lisa below.

Lisa , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I will say I feel like my confidence and self-esteem stemmed from being part of a family who are adamant on standing your ground, being a leader not a follower and never allowing what others say or think to be part of your focus from a young age. So as the years have gone on, i of course have lost it here and there as many do, but I revert back to myself what’s deterring me from that to remove it and progress in a positive manner.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Lisa Marie, and I consider my myself a jack of all trades but I am mostly known as a published and celebrity hairstylist. Also, my husband and I own a barbershop called Chopshop Barbershop. My background was in legal but i am now in a totally different field with no regrets. The amount of discipline it takes to keep up with everything in this industry and owning a business, as well as managing employees becomes stressful at times just as much as it is rewarding. The constant continuous learning never ends. I absolutely love learning new trick and tips to constantly be in tune with the current. I love all aspects of styling and the creativity it gives. Weddings, photo shoots, runway, you name it! We would love to franchise the barbershop so that will definitely occur in the near future.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three qualities I would have to say someone could benefit in obtaining as I found it impactful in my career thus far is, be versatile. Versatility allows room for growth in many ways, as well as a you gaining a variety in clients which allows more range and bookings. Punctuality, being EARLY ALWAYS. Lastly stay professional. No matter how long someone has been your client, How long they have been loyal, never cross that line to think you could ever treat the servicing any differently.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
Well my parents have done a multitude of things that have been extremely impactful in my life. But the one that stands out in particular was their inability to make sure I NEVER went without. I grew up very fortunate with having a selfless mother who is now a veteran and served for this country in the United States Army, in which I proudly say! My father has worked in the medical field in the OR. They took their childhood trauma and how they grew up less fortunate and sacrificed a lot to make sure I could have the opportunities I grew up with. I’m forever blessed, humbled and appreciative. It’s molded me to appreciate everything and strive to allow their hard work to not go foreseen and do the same for my kids. My parents have impacted my life in more ways than I could ever imagine to pick just one and without them I wouldn’t be who I am today.
