Meet Lisa Rose

We were lucky to catch up with Lisa Rose recently and have shared our conversation below.

Lisa Rose, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

I love this question! I think confidence is like happiness; an emotion that comes and goes. Most days when I’m feeling my best, looking my best (in my opinion), and feeling productive, I feel most confident! My self-esteem has been a journey of building blocks for most of my life, starting young, of course. Luckily, I’ve been able to surround myself with people who support me in my endeavors, which keeps my self-esteem at a great level. However, I remind myself every day that only I can offer the world my talents, I have unique experiences that make my skills and expertise unlike anyone else, and that really gets me going! I try to give myself grace as much as I can; I’m only human, not AI, and make mistakes, just like anybody. Treat yourself with kindness (it’s cliche), and the rest will follow!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Throughout the last decade, I’ve made my way through the performing arts, the beauty industry, and now fashion. All three are my life’s passions, and I hope to one day earn my living combining them. For now, I’m a personal stylist! Currently, I’m only working with clients remotely, but soon looking to expand to local clientele. I’ve been making plans for a website for some time, so hopefully, that will be launching later this year! For now, find me on Instagram. We can chat about fashion, detox your closet, or if you need style/beauty advice, I’m happy to help! I love to use my socials to connect with the community (TikTok & Instagram), create content, and inspire others to express themselves through the art of dressing. Style truly is all about expressing who you are, and it’s my goal to teach others that it’s not as scary and does not have as many “rules” as you would think. It’s meant to be fun, make you feel amazing, and life is too short to limit yourself!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The first one that comes to mind is connection. Every client I work with is someone special, someone with a story, and someone I want to relate to, so people might feel less alone in this big world. To create a powerful connection is to create meaning and memory. People, more often than not, crave connection, and the only thing in the way is ourselves! Be brave!

The second, humor. It’s so important not to take things so seriously. Laugh at yourself, it will be okay. Make light of a terrible situation if you can, and maybe it will be less terrible. Again, life is too short!

Third, my ability to get people out of their comfort zone is what makes me shine! Now, don’t get me wrong; I’m not here to do that to you if you aren’t ready. I try to meet others where they are, but also paint them a picture that they might never have thought about before. A color you never wear? Let’s try it, but in a smaller accent. A silhouette, someone said, isn’t for you? Too bad, we are going to find the perfect way to wear it, that complements you. Afraid of a certain pattern? Let’s combine it with pieces you love, or find a new version you’ve never seen to try. You never know what is possible, and sometimes, all people need is the confidence and someone to say, “go for it!” and show them the way! It’s important for us to step outside the box to truly connect with ourselves and our own journeys.

Last, I wanted to leave one of my favorite phrases, which I’ve passed on to friends. I learned it from a teacher, and it’s stuck with me my whole life: get comfortable being uncomfortable! Life will be a lot easier that way.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Absolutely! Currently, my goal is to connect more with the community and foster creativity among my peers. I love a good passion project! I’d love to meet more people to collaborate with on projects that inspire, start conversations, and tell a great story. Anyone can find me on my Instagram or TikTok page! @doseoflisarose
