Meet Lisa Sophia Gantt

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lisa Sophia Gantt. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lisa Sophia below.

Lisa Sophia, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
One thing that everyone has in common is we are all humans. No matter how different we are from one another we can relate. I enjoy being in a room full of people with different backgrounds because I get a chance to learn. I do not know everything. Connecting with new people gives me an opportunity to grow. The more comfortable I get with people who are different from me the more I get to know myself. There is always something to talk about. I enjoy small talk that leads to meaningful conversations. Everyone has a story and I enjoy hearing peoples heart.

Making an impact in a room comes easy for me because I genuinely care for others. This eases all anxiety because i am truly interested in getting to know people. I am a woman that has life experiences. I am relatable and I am always willing to grow. Having this attitude keeps you comfortable in a room.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a mom of four. I birthed a two year old son and a three month old daughter. I am also a bonus mom to 10 years twins. They are fraternal. One boy and one girl. I am a blogger and a motivational speaker. I enjoy encouraging others. As I go through life I share life experiences in real time to help others. I have a blog called Lisa Sophia Living Life. I am dropping a merchandise line soon. Stay tuned. My website is www.lisasophialivinglife.com.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three qualities that impacted my journey are staying teachable, consistency and kindness. You can go a lot further in life with the above qualities. People connect with people who are approachable. You need people so you can grow, no matter the industry you are in. Having the above qualities helps build and maintain relationships.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My mother has always been constant in my life. I am blessed to be a mamas girl. Her kind heart, prayers and word of encouragement shaped my life. I would not be who I am without her. Shout out to my Mama!
