Liuyazi (Arya), we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

My confidence and self-esteem have grown through continuous learning, self-development, and expanding my capacity with patience. Moving to America presented many challenges, especially with the language barrier, making me feel like an adult soul trapped in kindergarten-level expression. Taking language classes continuously has greatly improved my communication skills and boosted my confidence.

My career journey in the US has been both challenging and rewarding. In the early years, stepping outside my comfort zone was painful and led me to temporarily set aside my passion. As an artist, expression is vital, and I often needed personal time to fulfill this. After years of struggle, I’ve developed versatility in my work, which provides mental security and allows me to pursue the themes I love most, bringing me joy and self-esteem.
The key is to support what we truly want to do, as this attracts opportunities, builds confidence, and helps us navigate life with belief in ourselves.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a Senior Concept Artist with a decade of experience in the gaming industry, specializing in creating immersive, visually compelling designs that bring vivid worlds to life. What excites me most is storytelling and creature design—imagining how characters live, interact with their world, face challenges, and grow.

Outside of my job, I am deeply committed to personal development as an artist. I focus on becoming more sensitive, expressive, and self-accepting, which allows me to channel my creativity freely. My passion for psychology, philosophy, and sociology gives me a deeper understanding of the world and different perspectives on experiencing life, making my creations resonate emotionally with audiences.

My personal art is usually in a mystical, fantasy theme, which is inspired by my experiences, emotions, and dance. I play music that matches the energy of the moment and use art to capture those feelings. This impromptu process allows me to capture the present, release tension, and share healing through my work.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Curiosity, perseverance, and flexibility have been the key qualities in my journey.
Curiosity drives me to explore—whether it’s myself, the world, cultures, themes, or techniques. It helps me understand what intrigues me most.
Perseverance gives me the strength to stay dedicated to my chosen path, even during challenging and painful moments, which are inevitable when growing.
Flexibility is an essential mechanism for dealing with obstacles. The road isn’t always straight, and sometimes we need to adjust our perspective or approach to achieve our ultimate goals.
The most important thing is to maintain awareness and mindfulness when applying these qualities, as they can help us find various methods to overcome challenges.
For those early in their journey, my advice is to be brave and open. These qualities will grow with you and provide everything you need along the way.

I’m interested in collaborating with various expressive artists and individuals who have a deep understanding of emotions, mysticism, and spirituality. This could include contemporary dancers, musicians, calligraphers, art therapists, or tarot readers.
I’m also looking for a curator, producer, or product manager familiar with the art field to help strengthen my brand, create a roadmap, promote my work, and develop products.
