Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Liz Appulese. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Liz, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Throughout the years of my journey with herbalism and being a business owner, I have done so much informative research and spent lots of time educating myself so that I can thoroughly understand every aspect of my livelihood and become well rounded. I truly take the time to better myself and grow my knowledge when it comes to my interests and career as an herbalist and small business owner, so for this reason, I feel as though my confidence comes naturally! Self esteem can be tricky on an occasion, though. As confident as I am in my abilities, slow times as a business owner really can hit hard and make you feel less than. At times when my self esteem is feeling low, I like to revisit all of the milestones I have achieved to help boost my self esteem and give me a little extra motivation! We all have slow times or bad days, but strong perseverance will keep you going through the rough patches and balance out those periods of low self esteem.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
At 20 years old, I started my business as an herbalist/cosmetic formulator and began selling my products online. I have sold products in a local boutique and have participated in a number of events such as arts markets and farmers markets. Currently, in addition to my online store, I sell wholesale to a local esthetician and have products in store at a refillery & natural market here in town. I always have lived an earth-loving, plant based lifestyle. After struggling with severe acne for nearly 10 years, and trying what felt like every topical cream and oral medication recommended by my dermatologist with little to no avail, I knew I needed to take matters into my own hands. I began to study herbalism and created my first product, AuraPure Tonic Toner (now available as AuraPure Botanical Toner), which to my surprise, worked incredibly well and finally healed my skin. Through my business ventures, I feel as though I have really found my calling and have proudly helped many folks heal themselves with my magical, herbal remedies. Recently, I have began publishing ebooks surrounding herbalism, sustainability & living a nontoxic lifestyle to better help my followers and customers educate themselves using my true and tried methodology.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
A few qualities and skills that I feel were most impactful on my journey would be my determination, thoroughness and natural passion I have always had for nature. My advice to anyone looking to embark on their own journey as a business owner, artist, etc., would be to have patience with yourself and do your research. Whether it is taking classes, learning from others in a more social setting or sitting down yourself with a couple of books and a laptop, there is always something to learn when it comes to your passions. Good things don’t always happen over night and there is always something new to learn, no matter how much you think you already know.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am always Looking to collaborate and make connections with new people! Selling my products in store and taking on more wholesale orders is my current goal right now. Ideally, I am looking for people who have similar passions for natural, nontoxic remedies, sustainability, and folks who are moving away from convenience culture and seeking more holistic methods.
