Meet Liz Mendez

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Liz Mendez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Liz, so happy to have you with us today and there is so much we want to ask you about. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others developed certain skills or qualities that we are struggling with can be helpful. Along those lines, we’d love to hear from you about how you developed your ability to take risk?
I feel like everything in the world is scary , everything seems hard and there’s always a “what if” but if I don’t at least try then how can I make the goals I have a reality. I think you just have to go for it and figure things out along the way.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My business is called 210 Nail Bby ! I’m located on the west side of San Antonio just 5 minutes from down town. I offer Gel x sets , overlays and gel manicures. I specialize in hand painted nail art which is so fun for me , i love creating little master pieces on my clients nails especially when they come back and tell me all the compliments they got on them.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Honestly the biggest thing for me was to not give up. There was a lot of 13 hour days with going to school and work part time , then coming home and doing delivery services. I had to sacrifice a lot to get what I wanted but it was all worth it in the end. I think anything worth while is hard to get , if it was easy everyone would do it.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
My one year anniversary just passed from becoming a licensed nail tech. Within that year i went from doing nails out of my house to moving to a studio and getting my LLC. I’ve created a place that I really enjoy being in and absolutely love my clients especially the ones that have been here since the start. I couldn’t be here without them and everyone else who supports me.
