Meet Liza Bustillo

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Liza Bustillo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Liza, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

I had to study & understand my roots on a cultural and environmental level. It led to me seeing myself for who I really am and what I stand for so I can embrace the purpose I have in this world. When you build an unshakable bond with your authentic self and the mission of your spirit, everything becomes easy.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

The work I do involves creating adornments for people to embody their highest-self and reconnect to the practice of spiritual protection. I’m really inspired by the idea of people coming back to their sovereign and free selves so sometimes I’m looking at ways to remind folks of things we did on an Indigenous level before this modern world stuff that has become a result of colonization. I think many people find themselves unhappy being stuck at jobs they hate and seeing life pass them by, so the exciting part about what I do is I bring out the inner-child who likes to play and create to ignite that in other people.

With my brand Original Goddess I really bring to life the idea that whatever tf you want to do with your life is in your hands and who you are naturally, as long as you’re willing to evolve, is perfect as is. The term Original Goddess comes from “OG” but with my spiritual, feminine twist to it because my whole life I’ve always had people telling me what’s right, what’s wrong, etc. but I realized over time everyone’s path has a different trajectory and only ourselves really know what’s best for us. It plays on the duality of our divinity – “OG” as original gangsta or goddess. I bring to the table of “B*tch I’m both.” So really I inspire people to tap back into their inner will to shine beyond what other people expect them to be.

At the moment I’m shifting my skills from wire wrapping. I’m fundraising a course to make grillz so I can eventually make crystal grillz and pay for other classes like soldering/metalsmithing so I’d love for my community to bring this vision to life!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

1. social skills/the art of conversation
2. time management
3. discernment

The advice I have is to honestly go head first into everything that scares you. If you’re not scared, you’re not challenging yourself but in the end, you always come back in one piece so what’s there to lose?

I personally feel like I’ve been chiseled into 1 of my highest versions of self because of this.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I’m fasho in a collaborative phase because I see the value of a team vs trying to do it all myself. It’s easier to climb with folks around us.

I’m looking to collaborate with other jewelers, creatives, event coordinators, financial advisors, just any conscious/spiritual artistic people tapped into their craft and ready to make this mf money and to also just spread the gifts to make the world a better place. I call in people who aren’t scared to put it on the line to possibly create the best timeline they’ve ever reached. I’m ready to take risks and invest, and do things I’ve never done before to challenge myself and trailblaze. I call in people ready to make shit happen and build an empire.
