Meet Lizbeth Martinez

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lizbeth Martinez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lizbeth below.

Lizbeth, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

Overcoming imposter syndrome was not an easy thing for me. Actually, I still have days when it comes back and I have to find ways to convince myself that I am worthy and deserving of all good things. It all starts with practicing positive self-talk and reflecting on all of my strengths. I think about all of the things that I have achieved in my life and find ways to convince myself that I am worthy. I also have a great support system, which is my family and friends, whom believe in me and motivate me to continue achieving great things.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My name is Lizbeth and I recently started my own brand, called Wellness By LizMar, which is focused on holistic wellness, mindfulness and of course, yoga. 3 years ago I decided to leave my corporate job at the bank and booked a one-way flight to Bali, Indonesia to take my 200hr yoga teacher training in the middle of a beautiful jungle. I have been teaching for the last 2 years and just recently decided to book another one-way flight to Rishikesh, India to take my 300hr yoga teacher training in order to deepen my own practice, connect further with my spirituality and learn from the Indian masters. I never imagined this would be my path in life, but I can say that I have found my true calling and would love to some day open my own wellness center focused on holistic health and awareness. I practice mindfulness every day and also coach others about it. I teach yoga and meditation at a couple different studios in my hometown, and also teach online classes. You can find my courses, blogs and some delicious healthy recipes on my website, wellnessbylizmar.com. I also host events for women in my community, promoting the importance of wellness and self-care. This is only the beginning of my journey and am looking forward to hosting more events, such as retreats in the near future. I also have a podcast (in Spanish) to share more about my story and how I came to be the person that I am now. You can listen to this on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts- Fluyendo con LizMar.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The most important quality is believing in myself and having the confidence to put into action all of my ideas. Without this confidence and self-motivation, I would not be able to accomplish many of the things I have set my mind to do. Another important quality is being mindful and aware when it comes to handling business. This quality allows me to stay true to myself and have a clear vision in the goals I have set for myself and my business. Becoming more knowledgeable in everything that I do and taking courses, whether they be online or in person, to further expand my education and to be able to share with my community is also very important and necessary for growth. The best advice I have for others is to destroy any self-limiting beliefs and to surround themselves with people that support them unconditionally. Most importantly, always be AUTHENTIC.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I am looking to expand my business and learn from experts in the holistic wellness field, other yoga/meditation facilitators, yoga studios, mindfulness/life coaches and any other entrepreneurs. One of my goals this upcoming year is to organize more events for my community, promoting wellness and mindfulness. I would like to create spaces for others to heal, such as retreats, women’s/men’s circles, and workshops. If anybody is interested in connecting with me they can email me directly through my website (wellnessbylizmar.com) ([email protected]) or message me on Instagram, wellnessbylizmar. Thank you for your consideration.
