Meet Lizeth Santamaria

We recently connected with Lizeth Santamaria and have shared our conversation below.

Lizeth, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Finding my purpose was an eye-opening experience I am forever grateful for. After years of working in Human Resources I felt like something was missing, like I had a bigger purpose and calling on my life. Although I was helping people in the organization I worked for at the time, I knew God had a different and bigger plan for my life. Around that same time I was struggling with an autoimmune condition I have called lupus. Lupus flares are caused and amplified from stress. Working in a career that was not aligned with who I truly was began to cause extreme stress and inflammation in my body. I knew I needed to make changes to heal and improve my health. Living with lupus helped me realize each day was a gift and I wanted to really live life to the fullest as well as live and work in my purpose. With the calling God placed on my heart, as well as the realization that I was not aligned with the life I was living at the time helped me realize I was not working in my purpose. This realization made it clear to me that I needed to do whatever possible to change my life to be truly aligned with who God created me to be, and this would help me heal mind, body, and soul. I also knew deep down inside, that if God was making it clear to me my life needed to change, that He would support me along this journey towards purpose and healing. I also knew it was time to step out on faith. From that point forward, I began my journey to create a brand new life that would give me the opportunity to use the talents and gifts God had given me, heal, and live in my purpose to help and coach others. I ultimately decided to quit my corporate job, changed my career to be a holistic health and wellness coach, and founded Discover Your Power® in 2016. Now, as a Holistic Health and Wellness Coach I take a holistic approach to help coach and empower others to heal mentally, emotionally, and physically, as well as live purposefully so they can create the life they want!

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting back at my journey taught me the importance of recognizing and exploring your true God-given talents. God created each of us so special that He gave us each a gift. It is up to us to use our talents and gifts to give back to the world, because God created us to do just that. This is how we connect with others and give back to the world. That is the beauty of connection and provides the healing we need and the world needs. Once you discover you talents and gifts it is key to pour into that to grow your abilities. Whether that means taking an additional course, getting certified, connecting with others working in the field you want to enter, even finding a coach or mentor… taking the steps to pour into yourself and talents is how you truly find yourself and begin living in your purpose. There is a saying that says “If you don’t use it, you will lose it”. The amazing thing about living in your purpose is that you will be supported by God along your journey towards purpose, because this is why He created you. So my advice is take the leap, have faith, see how your journey unfolds, and enjoy every step of the way. It will be a life changing and amazing experience.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was support me and my belief of my purpose. At the time, they may not have understood the path I was going to take or why I decided to step away from my corporate job and change my career, but they support my decision. I am truly blessed to have supportive parents who always believed it me. But it’s important to know not everyone around you will understand you as you follow your journey towards purpose, but know that’s okay. It’s not their vision, it’s not their journey, it’s yours. Don’t waste your energy trying to convince others of the vision you see and know for your life. Start living in your true purpose, believe in yourself, and continue to do so. Know that you are worthy for the life you desire and that God will support you.
