Today, we’d like to introduce you to Lizette Abraham . Lizette was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Radharani Torres.
Hi Lizette , we’re so thrilled to have you sharing your story with us today. Maybe we can kick things off by having you introduce yourself to our readers? We’d love to have you go into your story and how you got to where you are today.
I am a scenic creator born in Mérida, Yucatán, and currently residing in Mexico City. I use photography as my main tool to construct visual universes with a unique language. My creative process is characterized by the creation of installations, the expressive use of body movement, the creation of life-sized dolls, masks, and objects, which I integrate into scenes that I later capture through photography. My practice establishes a constant dialogue with various materials, mainly textiles, which represent the skin of my photographic universes. On many occasions, these materials are used in performances, stage productions, and installations for the public, thus expanding the dimension of my artistic expression.
Please talk to us about your creative work and career. What should we know?
would like my audience to connect with my art, and for my work to become important, for it to transcend within the artistic sphere. I also hope that, at some point, I can make a living from it
So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Radharani Torres and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Radharani.
Radharani is an artist with the talent to work with multiple materials, tools, and concepts. That’s one of the things I like about her; her art is unique and original, and what stands out to me the most is the unique humor in her work. I have had the opportunity to collaborate with her several times on different projects, and she always gives her best. She always does things well, remaining focused and passionate. She is one of the most talented artists I know, with a clear and genuine artistic direction. When I have worked with her, I realize that she skillfully introduces and handles many of the tools she is familiar with. In short, I always want to be close to this artist and continue collaborating with her because I feel I can grow and learn from her.
