We were lucky to catch up with Løbö Cervantez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Løbö, so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?
I persist by giving it my all no matter what anybody thinks. They’re not me and they’re not happy with themselves. I often use it as my fuel to create. I have to remind myself, no matter what I decide to do with my profession there will always be individuals who will try to spew their hate towards me. It’s up to me on how I want to go about it. I look at some of my inspirations and see how far they’ve come in their career and there are those who continue to berate them but it doesn’t stop them from all their success.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Løbö Cervantez. I was born in Ocoee Florida. I lived in Florida until I was six years old. I then moved to North Carolina with my mother and baby sister. I’ve resided in North Carolina for well over twenty years. I am a solo music artist. I go by ThÄ LØ•BÖ(tha lobo). I create alternative/experimental music. For as long as I can remember, music has always been my passion. As a child I would always sing songs from my favorite movies or tv shows. My mother once told me she used to play Metallica to help put me to sleep when I was an infant. What ignited my interest in becoming a musician was listening to Slipknot’s self titled album. As a ten year old the ferociousness of their music spoke to me and from that moment I knew that was my calling. My first experience on stage was during my sophomore year of high school. I was apart of the school talent show. I sang “Give it Away” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It was a surreal moment in my life. Students got up from the bleachers and ran towards the stage to rock out with me. All the students and teachers in the auditorium cheered for me. I was so proud of myself. For a while I put being a musician to the side and wanted to go to school for film making. However due to personal reasons, I was unable to attend the university I was accepted into. Soon after I was approached by one of my cousins. He asked if I wanted to be a co-lead vocalist in this band he was in. I accepted and my dreams of being a musician began. During that era, we had went through different lineups. We eventually released an album. However due to creative differences and toxic environments, I decided to leave the band and focus on a solo career. Since then I’ve released an album called “Expect The Unexpected.” I’ve also been featured and will be featured on multiple projects with other great artists as well. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet so many great individuals who support me and are appreciative of my creativity. I would love to take a moment and thank all my loved ones, DJ Soulful Desire and her entire record label, Unique Sounds Of Soul for all their support they’ve given me. I was given the opportunity to help work on a horror film with my mother. A lot of hard work and dedication goes into filmmaking but I enjoyed every moment of it. I’ve been grateful enough to land many gigs with other artists. I’m in the process of working on some new material of my own. I’m really excited for my supporters to hear what I have to say. Welcome to the ØUTSÏDER PåCK!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
One of the best qualities to obtain, is patience. No matter what it is that you’re reaching for, it’s going to take a lot of patience to get to that point. The journey is not easy. There are days where you’ll feel like you’re not doing enough or nobody is fully paying attention to what you’re embarking on. Don’t worry about them. Continue to do what you’re doing. Promote what it is that you do. Go to events that fall in line with what it is that you’re wanting to accomplish and sooner or later someone will notice all that you’re capable of. Having patience, the rewards are priceless.
Being “grateful” is a quality that is very important. Look at what’s around you. You have a roof over your head, a vehicle or enough funds to get you by for the month? Those are things to be grateful for. Absorb gratefulness into what you wish to accomplish. Even if it’s not what you exactly wanted, still be grateful.
“Love,” the most important quality ever. Love yourself more importantly. Love what it is you desire. Envision yourself doing what you love. Love that vision. It’s easier said than done, I understand completely. For so long I didn’t love myself or anything about life. I felt like the whole world was against me. Many times I considered calling it quits but quitting is not in my nature. I had to learn to love myself, many obstacles presented themselves before me but I’ve managed to help build myself back up.
My advice for those reading this article. Don’t stop doing what you love. Come to terms that there will be bumpy roads on your journey. Figure out a solution on how to move forward from any set backs. Feel how you feel most importantly but do it in a healthy way for yourself.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
What I do when I feel overwhelmed. I’ll go take a walk on a hiking trail or downtown. I sometimes go to a local waterfall to alleviate the stress. I’ll give myself a couple days to thoroughly rest. I’ll write down how I’m feeling and make it into a song. I’ll put on a favorite movie or tv show to help calm me down.
The most important advice to those that feel overwhelmed. Listen to your body. Your body knows when you’re doing too much. We all get caught up in what’s important to us but we tend to forget about our self-care. Breathe and know when it’s time to take a moment for yourself.
