Meet Logan Stanko

We recently connected with Logan Stanko and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Logan , so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?

From my point of view, haters and nay-sayers are a good thing, not a bad thing. If you have haters that means you are doing something right. When you persist though, and do well with whatever you are doing, the hate turns to admiration. I use haters as a gauge to see if I am making correct decisions. Often times, people are scared of what they don’t know, and that manifests itself negatively. I run toward the negativity and run towards fear of failure. That’s how I know I am on the right track. So bring on the haters!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am one of two owners of Hydro-Kleen Pressure Washing in Jacksonville, FL. We are a fast growing company and have gone from two guys with a pressure washer to a million dollar (+) per year business.

For years, I was a financial advisor for a large investment firm, and my business partner worked for a regional home builder. He started Hydro-Kleen after getting laid off and shortly there after, I left the finance industry and we partnered together with one goal in mind….take over the Jacksonville pressure washing market. That’s what we have been focusing on for the last 5 years and are doing very well.

We went from just cleaning outsides of houses to large scale commercial properties and are looking to get into the government contract space. This has been a wild ride for sure, but we have learned a ton along the way. You have to grow through the pain of growing. You need to be agile, and make quick, effective, decisions. You also have to be willing to risk it all sometimes with the only reassurance being you own self confidence.

We were able to do all this by standardizing our systems and processes to make them scalable and repeatable. That allowed us to hire good people, pay them well, and grow like a weed. We absolutely love the ride we are on and look forward to achieving our future goals.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The first important quality is guts. Saying yes to an opportunity and figuring out the details later is extremely scary the first few times you do it, but you gain tons of self confidence. To learn what you are really capable of you have to run toward fear, not away from it.

The second is consistency. Create a consistent product or process for your service, then sell that consistency. This comes with having a process to do your work. Not just a process in your head, but on paper, so you can train to it. That is how you scale. As the business owner, you should be delegating and constantly looking to put yourself out of work.

The third is transparency. Customers don’t like to be lied to. If you don’t know something don’t pretend you do. Own it and immediately figure out whatever you need to keep the customers confidence.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

Reading! I once read that most billionaires read at least 60 books a year. This has been key to our growth. I listen to and read over 100 business books per year. Your car can be the best learning tool you have. Stop listening to music and listen to things that grow your knowledge base.
