We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Logan Stewart. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Logan below.
Hi Logan, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I am a firm believer the confidence arises from competence. While we of course all have inherent value as human beings, I think that it is important to prove to yourself that you are capable before you can realistically feel confident in your abilities. As a musician, I was not confident when I first began performing, nor should I have been confident when I hadn’t yet developed that skillset. Now that I have years of experience performing hundreds of gigs, I have earned that confidence and the self-esteem comes with that naturally.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a performing singer-songwriter as well as a marketing consultant for a company called Modern Musician, helping other artists market and monetize their music. I find lots of joy in creating music that brings people together and puts a smile on their face, as well as helping other artists do that same thing. Music is a universal language and I truly love being able to share it with others.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Persistence, attention to detail, and marketing have been the most important qualities and skills that I have found to be impactful in my career. Persistence is important because it takes time and hard work to achieve anything, and without persistence it is easy to give up before you get there. Attention to detail is important because it sets you apart from others who don’t take the time to properly craft their message and their image. Marketing is the most important skill for any business because it is not enough to simply create something or to have an offering – you need to know how to get it in front of the right people if your goal is to build a business.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most important thing my parents did for me was to instill work ethic in me and teach me the value of hard work. While I grew up in a financially comfortable home, I was not spoiled or given anything that I hadn’t earned. I got a job as soon as I was able because my parents wanted me to understand and respect the fact that everything in life worth having is worth working for.
