Meet Lola Berry

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lola Berry. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Lola, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

Honestly, i believe I’ve got my confidence from 9 years of therapy, specifically talk therapy.
Thats how i learnt that it’s okay to be complicated, messy and not know all the answers. As an A-type personality i’ve always been hyper critical of myself, but therapy has help ease that. Now i am much more accepting of who i am, and I value myself.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

G’day! My names Lola Berry! I’m a nutritionist, podcaster and TV host from Australia. And i’ve written 11 health and wellness books over the last decade too.

I came to LA to chase a dream of TV hosting and acting, i’m constantly training in voice acting and acting. I love sitcom school too.

I have a podcast called “Fearlessly Failing” where i interview people about the highs and lows of their career. i love it so much, humans are so resilient and honest. When you sit down and have chat with them, they really open up. The pod is one of my favourite things. i feel so lucky that it keeps growing, i never want to stop podcasting!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

3 skills that were most impactful:

1. The Readiness is All.
I interviewed an actor; Owen Teale from Game of Thrones and he said; the readiness is all. Stay ready because when the opportunity comes you want to be able to run with it. Some people let it slip through their hands. Stay ready, so you can run with the momentum of opportunities.

2. Stay Gutsy: if you’re gutsy, the small set backs wont phase you too much, keep going. Just dust yourself off and keep your eyes on the prize.

3. Ignore the nay-sayers.
I dated a guy once who told me i was too much of a dreamer, and i remember thinking, in that moment that he wasn’t the person for me. You want to be around the dreamers, doers and believers. They’re the ones who make magic happen! Even if they’re a bit strange, quirky or weird, the dreamers are who you want to spend your time with.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

Honestly, i do 3 things:

1. i do yoges, thats my word for yoga. I practice and teach yoga and i love vinyasa yoga which is the connection of movement to breath. I think yoga is a great way to connect with ourselves, especially when we cant verbally put into words whats going on.

2. my fave word in the world is BIOPHILLIA – its the healing power of mother nature on human beings, so getting out into nature is super healing and it grounds be, especially if i’m running things over and over in my head.

3. the final one might some weird but it should make sense if you’re an artist. I got to the movies or a live gig. Music or stand up show. I jsut love seeing creative people live their purpose, it truely does something to my heart. And it brings me back to why i do what i do. My goal is to touch peoples hearts, to help them feel.
