We were lucky to catch up with Loren Bouchard recently and have shared our conversation below.
Loren, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
As small business owners and experts in a niche area of photography, there are so many doubts that we have running our business. Will our clients like our work? Are we selling our service the right way? Is the content tailored to the right audience at the right time?
The questions are endless and can be overwhelming. We have learned to take one thing at a time and focus on quality content and services for our followers and clients. We have also adopted the mindset to execute / post / share rather than overthink what we are doing.
Bottom line: when imposter syndrome creeps in, remind yourself of why you started your business and what you want to share with others!

We are Lauren & Loren, co-founders of Babes in a Box. We are experts in a photography niche: box photography.
Babes in a Box was started for our love of celebrations and making memories with our families. From seasonal holidays to birthdays and announcements, we are passionate about celebrating and capturing the special moments in our kids’ lives.
We have combined our talents to make Babes in a Box a fresh, unique approach to family photography. Lauren’s event planning experience allows her to setup and style box themes for virtually any occasion. Loren has dabbled in photography and has spent years taking candid photographs of her two kids and began box photos during 2020 quarantine.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities that have been impactful for us as small business owners: determination, resiliency and openness to learn. We taught ourselves how to perform our niche service and are consistently evolving and learning.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
Our ideal client is someone who completely trusts our expertise and process. We so appreciate having the creative freedom to make a photography experience. Most often it far surpasses our clients’ expectations.
