Meet Loren Lorosa

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Loren Lorosa a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Loren , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

I get my resilience from my mother and grandmother, the women who raised me. I always hear those stories about kids saying ‘growing up I never knew when things got hard” and I completely feel that! Now that I am a adult, and deal with life on a daily myself I am ALWAYS thinking.. wow man, how did my mother and grandmother sustain life solely as entrepreneurs, single mothers, figuring out finances, and all of the extra things me and my brother consistently did and had. We really never felt any low moments and im sure there were plenty. Seeing them always have a solution to a problem, swallow their pride and feelings taught me so much strength and resilience that I demonstrate daily.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

My name is Loren LoRosa. I title myself as a Brown Girl Grinding storyteller, a phrase I coined when I first moved to LA as a hashtag to document my journey as I figured out my way into the LA entertainment industry in 2016.

From that point on I’ve built Brown Girl grinding into a Media and Production company that has been been accredited for breaking some of the biggest entertainment news stories, producing content with platforms like ESPN and more!

I have been able to leverage my brand and storytelling ability which has landed me 8 years within one of the most sought after pop culture newsrooms as a Senior News Producer with TMZ and currently, a fill in reccurring role as a Personality & Reporter on the Hall of Fame Radio Show- The Breakfast Club.

Everyday is different for more working in my industry which makes it so exciting! from breaking news to re routing production variables to get the best shot. There is never a dull day!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The 3 qualities, skills or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in my journey were the ability to pivot, resourcefulness and the ability to stay teachable.

If you are early in your journey I say the best way to improve on the qualities below is to actively practice them. Just get started! The biggest things required by the qualities above is the mental capacity to acknowledge when its time to change (pivot), thinking of yourself in third person and realizing that no one wants to hand hold a person in any situation will always remind you to stay ahead of the game and anticipate what is needed. Remaining teachable is just one of those things where accountability is just a must … I think if you are early in your career you are normally very optimistic and green… which isnt always a bad thing, you are easy to teach and eager to learn.. once you began to acquire some levels of success it sometimes puts us in a space that blocks you from accessing that optimism. If you are not learning you are not living, with the increase in social media and its importance in our daily lives … things change so fast you must always be able to learn new things.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Currently Brown Girl Grinding is looking for editorial interns who have experience in pop culture news and knowledge of social media and trends/trending topics.

This is a remote position.
