Meet Lorena Molina

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lorena Molina a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Lorena, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

Imposter syndrome hit at an unexpected time and for no apparent reason. I had already been running my business for a few years and had been using herbs for everything from an upset stomach to a snack since I was a child. Despite my experience, I suddenly felt like a fraud.

I asked myself why I was feeling this way. Much of it had to do with allowing others to define me. I even remember thinking that I needed to earn herbalist certifications to be accepted by those who do not understand the importance of learning from elders, genetic memory, and innate gifts. In that moment, I was reminded that I was born to do this—helping others naturally while understanding the impact mental and spiritual health have on the body.

From a young age, I often felt out of place. I was a child who preferred the company of books and elders, and I loved walking among the trees, along the river, or through mountain woods. Stories told about me often included how I would bite plants when I walked into someone’s home, a curious toddler exploring the world around me.

As I grew older, my interests didn’t change. When my grandma took us on walks, she would point out herbs growing in the yard or neighborhood, and we would always end up picking yerba buena and quelites from our yard.

I overcame imposter syndrome by remembering who I am, where I come from, and what I have done and learned. These memories and realizations grounded me and reaffirmed my place in my work and my life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Thank you for the opportunity to share my story! My name is Lorena, and I’m the founder of Sacred Space Herbs. My journey with natural remedies began when I was just a toddler, guided by the nurturing wisdom of my grandmother. This early passion blossomed into a lifelong commitment to holistic wellness, culminating in earning my Master Herbalist certification several years ago.

I believe in the power of nature to heal and nurture the mind, body, and spirit. I offer a diverse range of products, including organic herbal teas, skincare oils, aromatherapy oils, and spiritual cleansing tools, all crafted with the utmost care and intention. What sets my products apart is not just the quality of the ingredients—sourced from organic and wild-harvested plants—but the love and dedication that go into each hand-mixed batch.

One of the most exciting aspects of what I do is seeing the positive impact my products have on my customers’ lives. Whether it’s a soothing tea blend that helps someone unwind after a long day or a skincare oil that transforms a daily routine into a ritual of self-care, it’s incredibly rewarding to know that I am contributing to the well-being of my community.

I am also thrilled to announce some new initiatives at Sacred Space Herbs. In the near future, I will be offering herbal workshops and one-on-one sessions to educate and empower individuals on their holistic wellness journey. These workshops will cover a range of topics, from the basics of herbalism to advanced techniques in natural healing, and will provide hands-on experience with my products and practices.

Additionally, I am expanding my product line to include seasonal blends and limited-edition offerings, designed to align with the rhythms of nature and the changing needs of my customers. Each season brings its own unique energy and challenges, and my goal is to provide the perfect herbal support for every time of year.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back on my journey, three qualities and areas of knowledge have been particularly impactful:

Passion for Learning:

From a young age, my curiosity and love for learning about plants and their healing properties have driven me. This passion led me to continually seek out new knowledge and earn my Master Herbalist certification.

For those early in their journey, I recommend immersing yourself in your area of interest. Take courses, read extensively, and stay curious. The more you learn, the more confident and skilled you will become.

Dedication and Perseverance:

Building Sacred Space Herbs required a great deal of dedication and perseverance. There were many challenges along the way, but staying committed to my vision and pushing through obstacles was crucial.

For those starting out, remember that perseverance is key. Set clear goals, stay focused, and don’t be discouraged by setbacks. Each challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow.

Empathy and Connection:

Understanding and connecting with people has been essential in my work. My desire to help others and provide meaningful support through herbal remedies has guided my business decisions.

For those early in their journey, I advise cultivating empathy and building genuine connections with your community. Listen to their needs, be responsive, and always strive to offer solutions that truly benefit them.

By developing these qualities—passion for learning, dedication, and empathy—you can build a strong foundation for success.

Stay committed to your path, keep learning, and always prioritize the well-being of yourself those you serve.
