Hi Lori Carter, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

It has been very important to me to move intentionally. I recognize nothing happens by chance. As I navigated away from my childhood dreams of becoming a physician, I was seeking the career path my Biology degree would steer me towards. Once the vision of opening a juice bar was given to me, I knew that would lead me to what I would do next. The path of entrepreneurship and its non-stop need for attention constantly presented challenges. I discovered I was walking in my purpose because as challenges were presented so were solutions. What I learned over time was to keep going. The more I endured, the more lessons I learned, the more i understood I was walking in my purpose.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

To look back over the years since the creation of Juice-C-Juice in 2001, the journey has included:
1) providing life in a cup to thousands of customers of all ages,
2) guiding the children to healthy eating with field trips to our stores,
3) developing reading gardens in local elementary schools,
4) providing fresh juice to the homeless community.

What is most exciting about this is the impact we have had over the years in the commuity. We have become an information hub and a destination for the entire family.

As we complete construction on location #2 in Compton, CA, we continue our path towards francising to bring Juice-C-Juice to a commuity near you.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

To identify 3 things impactful in my journey:
1) it is important for me to be a student and always learning,
2) know that manifestation is real and the power of thoughts and words will determine your ooutcome.
3) make a plan but remain flexible

I’d advise someone early in their journey to be careful who you share your ideas and visions with. It was depsotited into you personally and because others may not see it nor understand it and speak about it from their negative lense. Beware of Dream killers.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

When feeling overwhelmed, I step back and remind myself who the author of life and death is. I detach for a moment to allow myself to regroup and connect to nature. Whether I go to my garden, a park or even the beach. I use this time to express gratitude for the journey and seek the purpose of the challenge.
