We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lori Gama a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Lori , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

Resilience isn’t something you’re born with—it’s something you choose, again and again, when giving up would be easier. It’s the decision to rise when the weight of the world tells you to stay down. And it’s the knowing—wired into me by the women who raised me—that there is always, always, a way forward.

I learned that watching my mother after my father died suddenly. We were drowning in grief, but she never stopped moving. With my grandmother beside her, she turned heartbreak into fuel, holding our family together through sheer determination. I didn’t realize it then, at the age of 13, but watching my mother transform pain into purpose gave me a lifelong blueprint for how to lead—with heart, courage, and grit.

That same resilience carried me through every chapter of my life—from starting my digital marketing agency right after son was born, to growing it into a thriving 14-person firm nearly three decades later. Today, I get to train businesses and nonprofits how to integrate AI and work smarter—not harder—so they can focus on what matters most. (Or we do it for them.) Every success, every milestone, traces back to those lessons in strength and perseverance I learned as a girl watching my mother and grandmother refuse to quit.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m the founder and CEO of DaGama Digital Marketing & AI Agency, based in Greeley, Colorado. Nearly 30 years ago, I started this company with one computer, my newborn son beside me, and a clear vision—to help business owners grow with integrity and purpose. Today, we’re a 14-person team offering everything a company needs under one virtual roof: AI-powered SEO, Google Ads, Local Service Ads, social media marketing, video marketing, and website development.

What makes our agency different is how we blend AI innovation with human insight. We don’t just chase clicks or algorithms—we get our clients’ phones ringing. Our proven SEO strategy gets them found everywhere their customers are searching: Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity, YouTube, and across social media. That visibility turns into calls, leads, and real growth.

We’re also expanding our AI consulting and training programs to help companies and nonprofits integrate AI into daily operations, saving hours of time while amplifying creativity and impact. Beyond business, I’m deeply invested in my community. I recently completed six years of service on the Board of Directors for United Way of Weld County and continue to serve on the Greeley Area Chamber of Commerce Board, because I believe when local businesses thrive, the entire community rises with them.What excites me most right now is helping business owners embrace the future of marketing with confidence, clarity, and a human touch.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three qualities have shaped my journey more than anything: pattern recognition, mastery of SEO, and leadership.

I’ve always been a pattern finder. I can see shifts before they become mainstream—and that’s been the key to my success. I recognized the power of the Internet in the early ’90s, understood the potential of websites when most businesses didn’t have one, embraced SEO before it was a buzzword, and saw how social media would change marketing forever. Today, that same instinct has me leading in the AI era. My clients benefit because I prepare them for what’s next—before it happens.

My second skill, SEO, remains the heartbeat of everything we do. As Google evolves, we evolve. Months before AI Overviews appeared, my team and I were already optimizing for them. Now, our clients are being found in Google’s AI results, ChatGPT, and Perplexity for hundreds of search queries—because we were ready.

Finally, leadership has been a constant force in my career. I was fortunate to receive world-class leadership training in my 20s and 30s as a McDonald’s General Manager. That experience taught me how to motivate people, create systems, and build a culture of excellence—skills that still guide how I lead my agency today.

It’s never too late to start your dream career. I started mine at 34 years old. The odds did not favor someone like me to succeed. Now, 30 years later, I’m still here—grateful, thriving, and proud to have broken the cycle of generational poverty in my family. My parents and grandparents told me over and over that I could become anyone I wanted to be and live a better life than they did. Because of their sacrifices, the mentors who guided me, and my constant “never give up” attitude, I did just that. And I’m so thankful.

For anyone early in their journey, my advice is simple: stay curious, stay prepared, and lead with heart.

✔️ Get leadership training.
✔️ Use AI to help you figure out your roadmap.
✔️ Use AI (especially ChatGPT) as your operating system in business and life.
✔️ Learn to spot patterns before others do.
✔️ Keep learning even when you think you’ve mastered it.
✔️ Believe it to see it!
✔️ And remember that leadership is less about control and more about lifting others to their potential.
