We recently connected with Lorre Wilson and have shared our conversation below.
Lorre, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience didn’t come from business school — it came from motherhood.
When you’ve juggled schedules, solved unexpected problems, and learned to adapt on the fly, you’re more than ready for the fast-paced, ever-changing world of real estate.
There’s no salary, no clock to punch, and no guarantee. You have to build your business from scratch — brand, leads, systems, reputation, and consistency. That freedom is empowering, but it’s also a heavy responsibility.
The market changes. Interest rates shift. Technology evolves. Laws update. Consumer expectations rise. You never really “arrive” — you’re always learning something new to stay relevant.
Buying or selling a home isn’t just paperwork — it’s people’s lives, fears, hopes, and memories. That takes empathy, patience, and emotional stamina. You’re often the calm in someone else’s storm.
One week you feel unstoppable. The next, you’re wondering if anything will close. Real estate requires resilience — not just to survive, but to keep showing up with heart even when things fall apart.
But It’s Worth It – Because when you help a family find their dream home, guide someone through a major life change, or see your community grow because of your work — there’s nothing quite like it.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
As a child I was painfully shy. Competing in pageants forced me to learn world, national and local news, communities and create my own opinions and talk to people! Those years formed my confidence that in turn, lead me to Real Estate.
In my business there are 3 musts for success: 1. Desire to help other succeed 2. Business Plan. 3. Consistency
Even when you want to quit, don’t. That is what sets you apart from others.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
Ha Ha! Every day in Real Estate is overwhelming. No buyers? Unemployed. No sellers? Unemployed. Have 1 or more properties under contract? Multiple balls in the air at the same time.
My strategy: Calendar blocking, check lists, put systems in place. Strive to follow the strategy every day.
