Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lottyhanz Familyties. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lottyhanz, so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.
No matter how good of a person you are at heart, in life somebody will always have something to say to judge you. The quicker you realize and accept this the more content you become with yourself. You get to a point where you just don’t care what others think or say.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a rap artist from The Bay Area. Vallejo, Ca to be exact. As an artist I focus on telling my story of bettering myself as a person, making better decisions, and the struggles I go through personally both mentally and physically. As an artist I do everything myself from recording, engineering, mixing, mastering, artwork, distribution and even my own music videos. I release all my content under my record label Family Ties. The name Family Ties comes from me considering people in my close circle family.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Definitely my resilience and persistence. When I first came out as an artist I got made fun of especially by people I know personally. It used to affect me but over time I took that negativity and used it as a driving force to better myself to prove everybody wrong. The negativity never stopped me from constantly releasing music and over time I started to mold my own sound and learned how to make my tracks sound more professional. Everything I do is self taught.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Definitely learning that the best response to negativity is no response and using that as fuel to keep your motion going.
