Meet Louise Rosager

We recently connected with Louise Rosager and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Louise, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I have always had a strong sense of purpose and thankfully I don’t easily get distracted from what I am here to do. However, about a year after giving birth to my son, I was moving through a dark night of the soul. At the time I was writing for TV and film and pitching shows with a writing partner.

I was already tending dreams and coaching writers in my spare time, but my focus was still on ‘making it’ in Television. But truth be told, I was creatively exhausted and totally disillusioned with the industry. After every pitch meeting I found myself almost praying the studio wouldn’t pick up our show! In my heart, I wanted to focus on dreamwork and coaching and be more present as a new mother but I couldn’t admit it to myself. I had worked so hard to get to where I was.

However my dreams kept telling me I wasn’t on the right path. I had dreams of trying to paddle against the current in a river. About my house being torn down and reconstructed. About driving onto set, only to see that it had burnt down, or been abandoned years ago. The message was pretty clear: I wasn’t where I needed to be. And after a few months of feeling completely lost, I finally paid attention.

I took a week off to simply work with my dreams, all day, every day, in an effort to finally understand the message my psyche was trying to give me. And it became clear to me, that my work as an aspiring writer in TV was all about wanting to GET something – success, money, recognition! I was stuck in a selfish approach to life, but my soul wanted to give back to society, to contribute to the well-being of others. My soul was yearning to be in a different conversation around art, writing and dreams.

So, my dreams ultimately gave me the insights and courage I needed to shift my career to what I do now: Namely helping writers and dreamers overcome their internal blocks and let go of creative exhaustion and disillusionment. To dip back into their wellspring of creativity, uncover their authentic voice and create resonant, compelling stories that are true to their soul.

This work, in turn, keeps me staying true to a much larger purpose. I am a better mother, and I am happier than ever. There is nothing like seeing someone else unlock their true purpose – creatively and personally – and gain the power and wisdom to follow it. And I get to facilitate that transformation for others every day! I am very fortunate.

This is why I think dreams are such a powerful tool for self-actualization and creative fulfillment.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a Dream Tender and Creative Coach and I help people unlock their full potential – both personally and creatively.

I run The Unlimited Writer, a year-long coaching program designed to help writers turn a good idea into a masterfully told, market-ready script or manuscript. I utilize techniques from Jungian dreamwork, helping people access more depth and truth in their material, while also grounding my clients in a thorough understanding of form, structure and technique.

I also do one-on-one dream tending sessions with clients who are interested in unlocking the wisdom of their dreams.

At the moment I am busy creating new programming on site in Ojai. Starting in January ’26 my collaborator, Sarah Wetherbee, and I will be hosting retreats for artists, creators and dreamers who are fed up with the extractive creative systems and hungry for a new way: one rooted in soul, depth, imagination and sustainable inspiration.

I passionately feel that we artists need to take back the power in our work and reorient our creative life toward authenticity,
meaning, and inner authority. Our upcoming retreats will be all about doing that in a strong, supportive community of likeminded artists. Who knows… we may even start a different type of studio, one day.

I do this work because I am forever in awe with the transformational power of Dreams. In my opinion, dreams come with one sole purpose: To make us whole, and help us fulfill our potential. They will course-correct us if we are not living authentically. They will present the images, symbols and aspects of the Self that are needed to overcome the challenges we are facing and create lasting change in our lives.

Dreams are also powerful stories in their own right. The structure of dreams mirror the structure of a well-told story. I always say paying attention to your dreams makes you a better storyteller, because the dreams are, essentially, these perfectly structured, tailor-made stories about YOU.

So, my work is always two-fold: Its about creating great artistic work, absolutely. But any creative process, if done right, will also lead to a deeper understanding of the Self and help the artist uncover the inner resourcing needed to become happy and fulfilled as a human being. I am very grateful to facilitate both.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I think the most important skill I have learned – sometimes the hard way! – is not to judge what happens to me right away, and not to let myself get defeated by difficulties. Often, what seemed to me like the biggest setback was actually the biggest benefit in disguise. What looked like a door closing was actually a whole new life opening up.

It’s obviously hard to remember that in those moments when life seems to be falling apart. And believe me, I’ve had my share of those moments. But looking back, they’ve always led to incredible expansion down the line, to victories I could have never even dreamed of.

I think the most important quality to adopt, as a creative in this town, is to never give up. To feel what needs to be felt, be gentle and loving with myself, and just keep going no matter what. I think happiness and success is born from that kind of persistence, and, fundamentally, from never giving up on yourself.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

It’s a two-fold answer: My mentor, Stephen Aizenstat, who developed Dream Tending, the method I use in my coaching practice. And, too, my Buddhist community. I have been a practicing Buddhist for 17 years, and I honestly don’t know if I would have made it through the challenges I have had, without these tools: Buddhism and Dream Tending.

Stephen’s lifelong work with dreams has been hugely impactful in my life and career, and I am proud to now be co-teaching with him in the Dream Tending Certification Program, which I completed myself 10 years ago. I use what I learned from him every day in my work.

However, the most valuable lesson he taught me – which mirrors the Buddhist philosophy I practice – is to always look within myself for the solutions to my problems. To look to my dreams, and to my own imagination. To put it succinctly: To develop an ongoing relationship with my soul, with my Higher Self. Through Dream Tending, and my ongoing Buddhist practice I now believe that that no matter what happens to me in the world, I have the power within my life to meet, match, and overcome it. It is an incredibly empowering way to live, and I don’t think I can ever fully express my gratitude to Stephen and to my Buddhist community for showing me that it is even possible to live this way.
