Meet Luci Long

We were lucky to catch up with Luci Long recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Luci, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Throughout my journey as a college student, I often struggled with knowing what my purpose was. I always felt that I had to follow a certain path that I had planned for myself at a young age. I quickly realized that finding your purpose can take a lot longer and a lot more experience than you imagined. I also came to the realization that your purpose doesn’t have to be just one thing and it doesn’t have to be something that stays the same forever. After battling with this impending question for so long, I now allow myself to answer with regards to my current situation and feelings. What fuels my soul? What motivates me to be a better person for myself and for those I love? What can I do to bring a positive impact on the lives of others?

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a food content creator with a focus on vegetarian and plant-based meals. One of the most important points I like to make to my audience is to eat well, colorfully, and balanced. I believe that it is so important to make healthy food enjoyable, without restriction. I believe that taking some extra time out of your day to prepare a meal that is not only nutritious, but is also appealing to look at (and take pictures of) is so important not only for your physical health but your mental health. I encourage my audience to try that new fruit or vegetable that catches their eye on their weekly trip to the grocery and prepare it in whatever way they like. Living a balanced lifestyle doesn’t have to be hard and it should never involve restricting yourself from any of the things that bring you joy.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I think that having the confidence just to take the small leap towards putting myself out there and sharing my creative ideas through food was one of the most impactful aspects of my journey. Along with that, I understood that patience was necessary for me to see this hobby become more successful and reach a larger audience. Having the discipline and self-motivation to continue pursuing a new passion and hobby, even when I wasn’t exactly sure where it would lead me to, was also very impactful on my journey towards becoming a food content creator. My best advice for anyone also trying to share their hobby with a larger, online audience is to be confident, patient, and persistent and understand that it takes time for success to happen.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
As my audience as grown over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with and collaborate with a variety of my favorite brands. I thoroughly enjoy being able to create content and develop recipes for brands that share similar values as me. Before accepting a partnership or collaboration, I always make sure that the brand aligns with my values and what I want to share with my audience. I also think it is important for brands to recognize the challenges and effort that content creators face when taking on new projects. I look for brands that also promote balanced, vegetarian living that are welcome to my creative ideas in the kitchen and are flexible with what they are looking for.
