Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Luciana Prenda. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Luciana , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I believe my resilience comes from a combination of discipline, passion, and a deep belief that it’s never too late to reinvent yourself. At 50, stepping on stage as a natural bikini athlete wasn’t just a personal victory it was proof that age doesn’t define limits; mindset does.
Resilience, for me, is built in the quiet, challenging moments. It’s waking up early when no one is watching, pushing through days filled with doubt, and choosing consistency over comfort. It’s facing unexpected trials and learning to rise stronger every time.
Life has tested me in ways I never imagined. While preparing for my very first bikini competition, I had to undergo emergency surgery in late December 2023 to remove a tumor the size of an orange from my right ovary, along with my ovary and fallopian tube. At the same time, I went through a personal separation. I thought to myself, how many trials can one person face at once?
I was supposed to travel to Brazil to care for my mom, but God stopped me He knew I needed to take care of myself first. I couldn’t train for almost two months and honestly, I didn’t know if I would make it to that stage. When I finally returned to training in March, it was slow, light, and humbling.
But I came back. Stronger, more grateful, and more determined than ever. On June 15, 2024, I stepped on that stage for the first time carrying not just muscle, but resilience, faith, and a deep gratitude for my health. That first medal wasn’t just a win in sport it was a win in life.
Beyond the stage, my resilience comes from wanting to inspire other women especially those over 40 to see that strength, beauty, and confidence can continue to grow with age. Resilience isn’t about being unshakable it’s about bending without breaking, rising stronger each time, and moving forward with purpose and grace.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My name is Luciana Prenda, born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and I’ve been living in San Diego, California for 13 years. I’m a certified Personal Trainer and a Natural Bikini athlete. Fitness has been a constant in my life from running marathons as a teenager to competing and winning in the Master Bikini division today. At 50, I embrace this chapter with pride, showing that health, confidence, and strength have no age limit.
What drives me most is helping women, especially those over 40, discover their best version. I create training and nutrition programs that fit real life, not just quick fixes. For me, fitness isn’t only about building a stronger body it’s about cultivating resilience, self-love, and confidence.
I believe physical activity is one of the most powerful ways to care for both body and mind. For me, it’s daily therapy, bringing balance, mental clarity, and emotional well-being. My goal is to build strength for longevity emerge, health, and vitality to fully enjoy life for years to come. My programs are designed to be accessible, effective, and transformative. My mission is simple: to inspire women to believe in themselves and show that it’s never too late to start, grow, and shine.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Discipline and Consistency – From marathon days to competing in Natural Bikini, I’ve learned that real results come from daily dedication and consistent training and nutrition. My first competition is a perfect example. After surgery and personal challenges, I had only a few months to prepare. Rather than giving up, I focused on my strengths, trained consistently, and stepped on that stage with resilience, faith, and gratitude. That medal wasn’t just a win in sport — it was a victory over fear, pain, and uncertainty.
Advice: Start small but stay consistent. Build habits you can maintain, even when motivation fluctuates.
2. Continuous Learning –Studying physiology, nutrition, training techniques, and body transformation has been essential for my growth as both a professional and an athlete.
Advice: Never stop learning. Read, take courses, watch videos, and learn from experienced professionals. Constant learning makes all the difference.
3. Resilience and a Positive Mindset –Facing injuries, competing against younger opponents, and handling pressure required resilience. Staying focused and believing in myself was crucial. My experience with surgery and preparing for my first competition reinforced the importance of never giving up, even when facing major obstacles.
Advice: Cultivate patience and self-confidence. Obstacles will come, but your mindset determines how you grow from them.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?
I strongly believe in going all in on our strengths. Focusing on what we do best allows us to maximize impact and build confidence, even in challenging situations.
I’ve seen this firsthand in my journey as a natural bikini athlete. After my surgery, I focused on my strengths discipline, resilience, and dedication the and went on stage. Not only did I compete, but I won. In another competition, I faced women less than half my age and placed third out of 17 competitors. Age was just a number, and focusing on my strengths brought extraordinary results.
This philosophy carries over to my clients. I help women, especially those over 40, identify their unique strengths and leverage them to transform their fitness and confidence. While being well-rounded has value, fully investing in our natural abilities often creates the most meaningful and empowering outcomes.
