We recently connected with Lucille Coleman and have shared our conversation below.
Lucille, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Well, that part is still evolving and as you “mature” you realize this is who I am, what I am working with and you learn to embrace that about yourself. Of course you can tweak some things and learn different ways to do things, but you really just learn to love the skin you are in and rock with it.
Sometimes you do things out of pure necessity. You have no other choice, but do make it work, so you take a deep breath and you give it your all.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Well, I am retired and currently working full time. I am an independent consultant for several companies. I use one or two more personally then I do any other way. The two I am most passionate about are looloosluxuries, (www.looloosluxuries.com), which I am an Independent Contractor for Paparazzi Accessories. I absolutely love to dress up and wear accessories; this has been a passion since I was a little girl. Being an independent consultant I realize I have the opportunity to earn an income and present to my customers, as well as potential customers, items I love and how I would style them. I will admit getting in front of the camera is a challenge, however, my supporters do encourage me. My intent was to go full time with looloosluxuries and my other side hustles, but fear took over. My hope is that I will get out of my own way and immerse myself into what I enjoy. The other passion came recently and that is Crunchi, (crunchi.com/?als=LucilleColeman), which is a clean makeup brand. Again, as we age we have different concerns and mine is, am using what is healthy for me? I want my quality of life to be as best as it can and helping others to enjoy this journey with me is exciting. Having said that, the last I do not consider them the least of my ventures, but I do indulge in them. MiaBella Candles, which is an clean burning natural wax candle, (scent-team.com/winterparklucy) and when I say I enjoy these candles I do and I have been doing more pop ups, so if anyone in the Philadelphia area would like to have a popup or would be interested in coming to one I am open to it. I am absolutely hooked on Banana Bread. Lastly, is Avon which I have used well over 30 years and they have evolved because they are no longer your mother’s Avon. (www.youravon.com/lcoleman8265). I stand firm on the shower gel, and body lotions. I enjoy lots of the other products as well, and I will let you know this, sometimes even if you dont ask. I enjoy meeting new people, talking to them about the brands I represent and sometimes just simply talking about life. I am in the process of planning a pop-up for all my brands for the holidays, so please feel free to email me at [email protected] for any information requests, suggestions, collaborations, etc. I do have contests, games, etc., and no purchase is necessary,
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Engagement, Passion, and Commitment.
Engagement – Do not be afraid to speak about what you do or know to people; sometimes they may think you are unapproachable, or not interested. Say hello and take that first step, no matter how nervous or afraid you may be.
Passion – Have passion for what you do and again don’t be afraid to let people know this. I am very vocal, but I realize people do not know what I do if I don’t tell them, especially if I believe in the product. They will say nice to know, no thank you, or how many do you have?
Commitment – Give it your all if you believe in what you do, sometimes you have to push harder, but again if you believe in what you do, commit to it.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
Commitment is my number one obstacle and oddly enough I have no explanation for it. Possibly in the back of my mind being afraid of failure plays into it. I say each start of the week I will post regularly on all platforms, go live and fall short each week, but I know this is the only way to be successful. Success does not happen over night and people cannot see what you offer if you do not engage with them and show them why you do what you do and believe in your product(s).
