We were lucky to catch up with Lucy Reyes recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lucy, thrilled to have you on the platform as I think our readers can really benefit from your insights and experiences. In particular, we’d love to hear about how you think about burnout, avoiding or overcoming burnout, etc.
Oof, burnout feels like such a buzz word right now that many people are starting to gloss over it as if it doesn’t exist. However, burnout is very real and is something that impacts your productivity.
I remember first noticing I was experiencing burnout when I would drag my feet to get my desk. Once I’d sit down, it’d take forever to focus but eventually, I’d get *something* done.
After repeating this cycle day after day, one day, I started noticing my left eye twitching. I ignored it and said to myself, “it’ll go away.” It didn’t. It took several days of my eye twitching for me to realize I needed to make some changes.
One of these changes includes taking regular breaks, whether that means a nap in the middle of the day, a walk or just stepping outside for a few minutes to feel the fresh breeze in my face.
The second thing is to pay more attention to my body and if anything starts to feel off, it’s time to realign my priorities and get some things off my plate. This is when automating, delegating, outsourcing or implementing systems into your regular routine can become a huge help. This is what I recommend for anyone to avoid burnout too.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
HEYYY, I’M LUCY! 👋🏼 I’m a wifey, mama of two, a Productivity Strategist, course creator, podcaster, VIP Day service provider, Trello fanatic and the founder of Cheers to Productivity. (Does having multiple hats sound familiar? LOL)
In 2020, I left my corporate career to go all in and use my Business degree and 8+ years of experience in a much more meaningful way.
Now, my passion lies in helping online business owners get more productive by being intentional with your time. You don’t need to ‘do it all’ – you need to do it well.
Personally, I’d rather be playing Mario Party mini games with the fam than going back to complete forgotten tasks or not being able to finish my tasks at all. That’s why the mission of my business is to help coaches, digital product creators and service providers maximize their efficiency to increase profits without doing more. 🤩

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Time management, determination and a growth mindset, hands down, all of which can be improved by anyone.
Something I hear often is, “I’m just not a productive person,” or “I’ve always been a non-planner,” as if it’s something that’s a part of who they are and can’t be changed. That’s not the case.
Time management is a SKILL that can be learned and improved. I wasn’t always great at managing my time. In fact, I specifically remember the moment that my Retail Manager told me I needed to improve on it – that moment changed everything for me.
The next thing is if you’re really passionate about something, the determination will likely come naturally. If it doesn’t, I’d challenge you to rethink about the ‘thing’ and question what about it would make you more excited for it.
Lastly, always keep an open mind with anything you do. Change is scary and our brains don’t like it. However, I saw a saying recently that said, “If you wait until you’re ready, you’ll be waiting forever,” and that’s powerful. Change is inevitable so keeping a positive, growth mindset will help you tackle anything you set your mind to. 🙌🏼
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I believe in collaboration over competition. If you’re a coach in the online business industry and have an audience who could benefit from getting productive, implementing systems (especially if they’re Trello users) or staying organized, I’d love to connect and see how we can support each other’s businesses.
