Meet Luis Aceves

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Luis Aceves. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Luis, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?

My generosity comes from my parents, who instilled in me from a very young age the importance of helping others. Growing up, I watched them live with compassion and solidarity, and that shaped the way I see life.

Later, during my career in television in Mexico, I found myself drawn to projects that raised funds and visibility for nonprofit organizations. It wasn’t just about being in front of the cameras—it was about using that platform to mobilize people and resources for good causes.

Now, through my work with REACH, I carry that same spirit into the heart of the community. And through meditation, I’ve learned that generosity is not only about material support but also about presence, kindness, and creating spaces of peace for others. For me, generosity is a way of living—a balance between professional responsibility, community service, and spiritual purpose.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I wear a few hats that all connect to one purpose: uplifting people and creating spaces where they can heal, grow, and thrive. Professionally, I serve as Director of Development for REACH (Research, Education, and Access for Community Health), a nonprofit in Las Vegas dedicated to reducing health disparities. Through our health programs in local consulates and our mobile clinic, we reach over 120,000 people annually, many from underserved Latino communities. What excites me most is seeing how culturally rooted, community-led programs can change lives—whether it’s helping a family access primary care, guiding someone through a health crisis, or simply making people feel seen and supported.

In parallel, I’ve been a TV host and producer for over 30 years, earning an Emmy Award along the way. Storytelling has always been a passion for me, and I use that same energy now to amplify the voices of our community, showcase solutions, and inspire collective action.

Another very important part of my journey is my spiritual work as a certified meditation guide .I’ve spent more than 15 years guiding groups in Mexico, Los Angeles, Miami, and Las Vegas. I believe mindfulness and compassion are essential tools for both personal and collective wellbeing, and I integrate that perspective into everything I do—whether on stage, in a clinic, or at community events.

Looking ahead, I’m excited about expanding OMNIA LUMEN, a platform I created to bring together meditation, music, and collective healing events, and continuing to grow REACH’s mobile health clinic program to reach even more neighborhoods in Southern Nevada. For me, the most special part of my work is that it all connects—communication, community health, and spirituality—creating a balance that allows me to serve with passion and purpose.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, I believe three qualities have been the most impactful in my journey:

Empathy and Service – From my parents, I learned the importance of giving to others. This shaped my career in media and now in nonprofit leadership at REACH. Empathy allows you to connect authentically with people, to truly understand their struggles, and to respond with compassion.
Advice: Take the time to really listen. When you approach every interaction with genuine care, doors will open both personally and professionally.

Communication and Storytelling – My career as a TV host and producer taught me that stories have the power to inspire, heal, and mobilize. Whether it’s through a camera, a microphone, or a community health workshop, communication is at the heart of change.
Advice: Work on your ability to express ideas clearly and with passion. Practice public speaking, write often, and share your story—you never know whose life it might impact.

Mindfulness and Resilience – My spiritual journey with meditation has taught me the value of being present, even in the most challenging times. Resilience is not about avoiding difficulties, but about finding balance and inner strength to keep moving forward.
Advice: Develop a practice that grounds you—whether meditation, journaling, or simply pausing to breathe. This will help you manage stress and stay focused on what really matters.

At the core, my journey has been about weaving together service, communication, and mindfulness to empower others and to keep myself aligned with purpose. For those starting out, I’d say: be patient, keep learning, and never underestimate the impact of kindness combined with determination.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

The people who have been most helpful in my journey are first and foremost my parents. From an early age, they taught me the values of generosity, hard work, and compassion. Those lessons became the foundation of everything I do—whether in media, nonprofit leadership at REACH, or guiding meditation.

Professionally, I have been fortunate to learn from mentors in both communications and community health. In television, colleagues pushed me to develop my voice and use media to create positive impact. In the nonprofit sector, I have been guided by community leaders who modeled resilience and cultural competence in serving diverse populations.

Finally, my spiritual teachers in mindfulness and meditation have been invaluable. They helped me see challenges not as obstacles but as opportunities to grow. Learning to pause, breathe, and recenter has been one of the greatest tools for overcoming adversity.

So while there have been many supportive people along the way, I see my journey as a collective effort—family, mentors, and spiritual guides all working together to shape the person I am today.
