We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Luis González a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Luis , thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
Hello everyone,
Today I want to talk to you about something that is essential for our personal and professional development: creativity. Creativity is not just a flash of genius; It is a flame that burns within each of us, a flame that we must feed and care for.
For me, keeping creativity alive is an act of balance and exploration. It is looking for inspiration in everyday life, in the little things that we often overlook. It is seeing the world through the eyes of a child, with wonder and curiosity.
Exploration and Curiosity. Every day, I embark on an adventure to discover something new. It can be something as simple as taking a different route to work or trying a new recipe in the kitchen. The key is to break the routine and open yourself to new experiences.
Continuous learning.
Education does not end when we leave school. I keep my creativity alive by constantly learning. Whether through books, podcasts, or even conversations with friends, every learning opportunity is a chance to ignite a creative spark.
Creative Challenges.
I challenge myself regularly with projects and problems that require creative solutions. This could be something related to my work, like designing a new logo, or something personal, like writing a short story.
Connection with Nature.
Nature is one of the greatest sources of inspiration. Taking time to unwind and spend time outdoors can rejuvenate the soul and mind, opening up space for new ideas.
Share and Collaborate.
Creativity flourishes in community. Sharing ideas and working with others not only broadens our perspective, but also allows us to build on collective creativity.
In conclusion, keeping creativity alive is a commitment to oneself. It is choosing to see the potential where others see the ordinary. It is daring to dream and having the courage to turn those dreams into reality.
Thank you!
I hope this speech inspires you and gives you some ideas on how you can keep your own creativity flourishing. Remember, creativity is a journey, not a destination.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Ladies and gentlemen, art lovers and creatives of the world,
Today I address you not only as a speaker, but as a spokesperson for passion, an ambassador for imagination, and an advocate for the beauty that resides in the soul of every artist. To be an artist, whether a painter or sculptor, is to embark on a never-ending journey toward self-discovery and limitless expression.
The emotion of creating is comparable to that of a first love, intense and full of possibilities. Each brushstroke, each stroke of the chisel, is a beat of the artist’s heart, a physical manifestation of his most intimate thoughts and emotions. Fabric and marble are not simply materials; They are the silent confidants of our most personal stories.
The thrill of innovation is what drives us to explore unknown territories, to mix colors that have never been seen together before, to shape shapes that defy logic and gravity. The visual artist not only sees the world as it is, but as it could be, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary.
The thrill of inspiring is perhaps the most rewarding of all. Our works have the power to move others, to provoke discussions, to incite change. A single painting, a single sculpture, can become the catalyst for a new perspective, a new understanding.
And yes, the excitement of overcoming challenges. Every artist knows well the face of failure, the frustration of an unrealized vision. But it is precisely in those moments of doubt where the true character of the artist is forged. We get up, clean our brushes or pick up our chisels, and begin again, with renewed determination.
To be an artist is to live in a perpetual state of emotion. It is having the courage to share your unique vision with the world and the humility to continue learning from it. It is an honor, a challenge and a gift.
Thank you for allowing me to share these words with you, and may the passion and creativity continue to flourish in each of your hearts.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Aesthetic Perception: The ability to see the world not only as it is, but as it could be, is a fundamental quality in a visual artist. This aesthetic perception goes beyond simple observation; It is a deep understanding of form, color and texture, and how these elements can be combined to convey powerful emotions and narratives.
Technical Innovation: In a field that is constantly evolving, the ability to adapt and adopt new techniques and technologies is crucial. From oil painting to augmented reality, the visual artists who have left an indelible mark on their field are those who have managed to integrate innovative tools to expand the possibilities of expression.
Interdisciplinary Knowledge: The most influential visual artists often possess knowledge that transcends the traditional boundaries of art. Whether through history, philosophy, science, or literature, this wealth of knowledge fuels their creativity and allows them to create works that resonate on a deeper level with their audience.
These three qualities intertwine, forming the foundation on which I built my career, innovating and leaving a lasting mark on the art world.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
Dear friends and colleagues,
Today I want to talk to you about a challenge we all face at some point in our careers: overwhelm. As visual artists, we are constantly bombarded with new ideas, striking images, and the pressure to create something unique and memorable. But what happens when all this becomes too much?
First, let’s recognize that feeling overwhelmed is a sign that we are committed and passionate about our work. However, it is also a sign that we need to pause. Taking a moment to breathe and step away from the canvas or screen can be the first step in regaining clarity and perspective.
The organization is our ally. By establishing clear routines and priorities, we can better manage our time and energy. This does not mean sacrificing creative spontaneity, but rather giving it space within a framework that protects us from chaos.
Let us remember that continuous learning is part of our evolution as artists. Each project, each study, each sketch is an opportunity to grow. There are no failures, only lessons that bring us closer to our next masterpiece.
And most importantly, we are not alone. The artistic community is an invaluable support network. Sharing our experiences, seeking advice, and collaborating can ease the burden of overwhelm. Together, we can find new ways to see the world and express it through our art.
So when you feel the weight of overwhelm holding you back, remember: breathe, organize, learn, and connect. These are the keys to keeping the flame of our creativity alive and moving forward, stroke after stroke, towards the realization of our artistic vision.
