Meet Lumalia Armstrong

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lumalia Armstrong a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Lumalia, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

Refined by the fire of life, but if I’m honest, the fire of my soul, here to lead a new way of being for humanity that isn’t based on solving problems but by letting our greatest gift as lovers and creatives lead the way.

I’ve always been tancious my whole life, and my childhood from the outside seemed very privileged, it was. But it wasn’t until my thirties after enduring a autoimmune disease and chronic illness journey along with a near death experience during delievery of my daughter did I realize what I was truly made of.

We all seem to go on these Hero’s journies like Joseph Campbell talks about in his studies of mythology, but who we become after them is something that we get to decide, and it seems a lot of humanity settled for life happened to me, instead of for me. Yet I see resiliance as having access to the awareness, mentorship with modeling and support to see everything can always work out for your good. And this is a central principle I live by and teach through my work, writing, and immersive experiences.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Self-coined beauty hunter, I’m here to ignite a movement of explorers, creators, beauty hunters, and plot twist alchemists who have insatiable longings for life. Here we are celebrating the full spectrum of human experiences, letting our explorations and creations be the way we translate our souls. We are activating creators who are deeply in tune with their own embodied wisdom and their connection to everything. Who see everything as a mirror, yet they hunger to live a unique, passion-filled, one-of-a-kind life deeply in harmony with the rhythms of our limitless universe and remembrance of the soil.

Celebrate Again, my brand exists to awaken humanity to the true nature of celebration, reminding us that we didn’t come to this earth to suffer, consume, and take, but to co-create. Yet, so little of humanity is aware of their soul-level purpose, let alone of their gifts to share in the world. My work helps draw out a profound remembrance of our current realities, revealing that life has always been working for our best. I curate experiences for soon-to-be plot twist alchemists —those who can transform life’s experiences into pure gold, no matter the trial. Even if it was to say I saw the beauty of life again, I remembered what was most important.

I’m honored to be part of the Superbloom festival, made possible by one of the primary resources I use in Celebrate Again, Kindred Meditation.

I’m also working on the next memoir, which will always have experiences for people to enjoy at their own pace. Everyday Magic is an experience I’ve created to invite you to step into embracing your soul’s passions and desires, and to understand how to deeply root them, as we often see them but feel we cannot have them. There is a lot of unlearning we have to do to allow ourselves to honestly say yes to what our souls came here to express. I’m so honored to create experiences that will enable people to remember this, and Everyday Magic is one of them.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

With all my skills and qualities, some are genuinely gifts given to me at birth. At the same time, many are modeled or cultivated by surrounding myself with people and environments that demonstrate those skills.

Tenacity, playfulness, and a hunger for beauty are what have most impacted my life. Without all three, I don’t think I would have survived, quite literally to this day. Between battling PTSD from emerging childhood abuse memories, chronic illness journeys, and unsupportive relationships for far too long, statistically, it’s a miracle I’m still here. But something in my soul knew I could heal all of these, but it would have to be through a way I discovered and could then later translate and share with others.

Not giving up when it’s hard is vital. Knowing it’s ok to wallow and when to seek support. Not settling for sorrow, knowing there is so much joy to be had, is what always kept me going. I’m so blessed to be a mother, and that is the greatest gift of having children, their innocent ability to be in joy and play. And for this desire in me that does not settle for what I’ve been told or given, knowing it can be better, sometimes to the point of disappointment, but that is when I know it is my calling to lead the change I desire to see. It is not a light quality to hold, but one I know I came here to embody and take with the most incredible honor.

Simply put, my qualities and skills are now my joy to share and help others cultivate through my work in my writing, my art, and the embodied experiences I create inside Celebrate Again.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

Richard Rohr and the Divine Dance

I grew up very religious and was a very pious student of the Bible, but I honestly never before read books written by anyone other than the canonical Bible until I picked up The Divine Dance. Richard Rohr opened up Christianity for me in a way that allowed my soul to emerge outside the confines of belonging to a specific belief system.

In his book, I saw what my world had always experienced: that the kindest, most powerful humans didn’t always go by the name “Christian,” and in fact, we didn’t need such labels or to follow any text other than the compass of our souls.

After reading his book, to my utter surprise and everyone I’d ever known, Christianity slipped away in the best way possible. What emerged was my true soul—one that knows God is in me, not in something outside of me, not in getting it right, now in claiming a savior or messiah. But as the original Christianity was meant to be—seeing that we are love with hands and feet, and our mission in this world is to live that out loud.
