Meet Lunden DeLeon

We recently connected with Lunden DeLeon and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Lunden, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I was jobless and sleeping on a friend’s couch in Los Angeles when I found my purpose. My roommate at the time was a commercial print model and struggling actress from New York. She told me about a new medical drama called Vital Signs holding auditions for
actors. I didn’t know much about acting at the time but I was broke and had nothing left to lose. I went to the audition, read for the role of a young lady from West Africa name Joanne Mbutu and got the part. I nailed it! I felt like I had finally found something I was good at. God was opening doors for me for a reason and I wasn’t going to let anyone or anything get in my way. I soon signed with an acting agency, took some acting classes and went on to star and co-star in over 50 movies and television shows.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I recently signed on to star in the action film and comic book “Loaded Deck”. Fans can also see me in the romantic drama entitled “Differences” currently streaming.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The best advice is to be your own cheerleader. The entertainment industry is a very tough industry and extremely competitive. You have to stay confident, determined and always pat yourself on the back. Even if you didn’t get that big audition you was praying for- still pat yourself on the back. Your season is coming. Just keep at it and know that one day you’ll look back and appreciate the journey.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
I was just a teenager fresh out of high school when I left the Deep South for Los Angeles. I traveled 3,000 miles away on Greyhound by myself. Looking back, that was so brave of me. The most impactful thing my parents did was give me their blessing and not stand in my way.
