We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lyndsy Foshion a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Lyndsy with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
This one is easy! I definitely get my work ethic from my parents. I watched them my entire life work continuously to provide the best for my sister and I, and it really set a standard for my life. My dad taught me to set high goals and strive to achieve them, and that anything is really possible if you work hard. My mom taught me to keep your head up and put my faith in God; that if its His will He will get you through. I would not be where I am today without them!
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a blonding specialist, located in Flower Mound, TX. I am best known for my baby lighting and balayage techniques. I strive to create beautiful hair that is low maintenance, and fits my guests lifestyle. I am dedicated to bettering myself and my skills, and have learned from some of the best stylists in the industry. There is nothing I love more than giving my guests’ their dream hair and helping them feel beautiful!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think my ability to persevere played a huge part in my journey. It’s really hard starting out in the hair industry, and building a clientele. You really have to have the strength to keep going, and keep a positive mindset. Secondly, I think a good understanding of marketing, played a huge role in my journey. I spend a lot of time taking classes and researching marketing and growing a business on social media. Lastly, I would say my passion for people plays a huge role. I absolutely love my clients and strive to give them the best experience possible. They are really the biggest thing that keeps me going and I would be no where without them.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
I recently expanded my hand-tied extension knowledge by becoming JZ Styles Co. certified. I have really begun to dive deep into hair extensions and I love how they can really transform someones look and give them the hair of their dreams!
