We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lynette Toma . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lynette below.
Hi Lynette , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I attribute my strong work ethic to my father, who has been my greatest role model and source of inspiration. My father immigrated to America from Iraq with only $500 in his pocket, a profound sense of hope, and an unwavering determination to create a better life for his family.
His journey wasn’t easy. He faced numerous challenges, including language barriers, cultural differences, and financial instability. Yet, despite these obstacles, he never wavered in his commitment to providing for us. Watching him persevere through such hardships instilled in me the value of hard work and the importance of dedication.
My father’s experiences taught me that success is not handed to you but earned through diligence, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to your goals. He never complained about the sacrifices he made; instead, he approached every task with a positive attitude and a relentless work ethic. His story is a testament to the power of determination and the belief that with hard work, anything is possible.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As an individual and a brand, I embody dedication, community involvement, and authenticity.
Professionally, I am committed to sharing my healing with sound. I am deeply involved in supporting local businesses and schools, participating in local initiatives, and volunteering my time and resources to foster a thriving community.
At the core of my brand is a belief in hard work, integrity, and the power of community. I look forward to continuing to support and collaborate with our vibrant community and am excited about the future and the positive changes we can achieve together.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. **Communication**: As a speech therapist, I learned the profound importance of effective communication. It’s not just about speaking clearly but also about listening actively and understanding others. For those early in their journey, I advise honing your communication skills through practice, active listening, and being open to feedback.
2. **Empathy**: Working closely with individuals facing communication challenges taught me the power of empathy. Understanding and sharing the feelings of others builds trust and strengthens relationships. To develop empathy, put yourself in others’ shoes, listen without judgment, and be present in your interactions.
3. **Authenticity**: My experiences, including discovering sound healing, have boosted my confidence in being my authentic self and connecting genuinely with others. Authenticity fosters trust and deep connections. To cultivate authenticity, embrace your true self, be honest, and show vulnerability.
For those early in their journey, focusing on these areas can lead to personal and professional growth. Practice clear communication, develop empathy, and embrace your authentic self to build meaningful connections and achieve success.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I prioritize asking for help so I can take a much-needed break. It’s important to recognize that seeking support is a strength, not a weakness. By delegating tasks or sharing responsibilities, I create space for myself to rest and recharge.
