Meet Lynica Moore

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lynica Moore. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Lynica , so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?

Persisting despite naysayers and haters can be challenging, but it is important to remember that their opinions do not define my worth or potential for success. Instead of letting the negative opinions discourage me, I use them as fuel to drive to continue on my path.

I surround myself with a supportive network of family and friends, who believe in me and provide me with words of encouragement and pray for my success daily.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am a licensed childcare provider dedicated to caring for, nurturing, and educating children as they grow. At Learn, Play, & Sprout, we create the ideal environment for the emotional and physical development of our young ones, whom I lovingly refer to as Sprouts. Our recipe of growth, includes embracing imperfection and continuous improvement, building confidence through praise and encouragement, and most importantly, having fun with a capital F.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Communication, communication, communication is one of the most important and valuable skills of a childcare provider. Being able to meet the needs of children that are not mature enough to speak (infants) or have difficulty with speech is a task that one must be in tune to the child to be able to understand a physical or emotional need that can not be verbally expressed. This skill can not be taught but rather acquired through time and dedication spent with each child. In other words, you can get information on nonverbal cues to look for but every child is different. Therefore you must truly know each child to be able to meet their needs.
In addition, communicating with individuals from diverse backgrounds can be difficult at times. Parents can be extremely protective of their children, often coming across as blunt or even harsh. That is why I prioritize taking classes on communication and diversity, as it is essential in my line of work to not take things personally. However, I must admit that it is not an easy task.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

My first line of defense is having a little talk with Jesus telling him all about my troubles. I have a wonderful support system where I am able to discuss and confide in my family and friends when I feel overwhelmed.
