Meet Lyssa Forbes

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lyssa Forbes. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lyssa below.

Lyssa, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?

Well, as a young child it wasn’t instilled in me to be so caring and giving, my life growing up my peers were somewhat selfish and I was taught you have to earn it. Now that’s not going to say I wasn’t taught with kindness or manners, but the person I am today, I had to create because that’s who I wanted to be. I wanted to be someone who is known for unconditional love and generosity to any interaction I have. I’ve lived such a peaceful life since creating this peace and grace, compassion for others and myself! It’s very uplifting to see the smile on someone’s face even with just the smallest bit of compassion. It lights my day up just seeing and knowing that I helped make someone’s bad day somewhat more tolerable, due to making them feel seen and heard and cared for.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am in the process of writing a poetry book as of the past year in the making. I am all about healing wounds/traumas and diving into your shadow self and learning to grow along side your “demons” rather than run away from them. I am a highly spiritual person, one day I hope to help others with reiki healing, and with this book. I’m very dedicated to showing others that no matter what your healing process looks like, 1% of progress is still progress.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Being honest with yourself, show yourself compassion and love as you would others, and never be ashamed of who you are, or the path in life that you are on. Everyone is on a journey, but we all want essentially the same thing which is to be loved and to love. So we are responsible for creating that space for ourselves and others.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

Bethany Bryan’s autiobiography (My Story Continues) has helped me so much, her story is so inspiring! Very wonderful woman with an astonishing life living with Cystic Fibrosis. I encourage anyone who has not read her book to definitely give it a read, her story is so life altering to even just a reader looking from the outside in.
