Meet M-16

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to M-16. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi M-16, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

I have to give a lot of credit to both my grandfathers J.R. on my father’s side and John on my mothers. I learned punctuality and taking extreme pride in your work from John. He told me that you should be on time for anything you’ve been asked to do because other things they can teach you and coach you on but if you aren’t there and reliable it defeats the purpose. From J.R. I learned how to treat people with respect at all times, to look someone in the eye when you talk to them and to never compromise your character no matter the situation. These two strong men had huge influence on how I approach things in life.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am one of the hosts of The Radio Show ATL which is hip hop variety show based in Atlanta, GA. We are a show rooted in music but we dive into many topics like race, pop culture, politics, sports, and food. We also have a spinoff called “The Aftermath” where we interview up and coming artists from all over world who are the next big singers, rappers, directors, authors, etc. We also have “Bring A Friend Night” where we partner with other podcasts who host with us for the night and we have fun chatting and also gives a chance for cross promotion for all involved. I handle a lot of the guest booking as well as the editing of the videos that go on YouTube and other social media outlets.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I would say perseverance, being opened minded, and being willing to listen. With these three I was able to keep pushing when our ratings hit a standstill to keep creating knowing that if we kept going and stayed consistent and deliver great content we could and would breakthrough and we did. This is the biggest thing I would tell someone who is starting their journey whether it’s podcasting or anything else that you have to stick with it and don’t give up. Continue to push and give it your all until you have nothing left so if you have to pivot you know in your heart you have all you had and there is no shame in coming up short if you gave 100%

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

For the show we are looking to collaborate with folks who have drive and who want to have fun and promote themselves relentlessly. We want to talk to the rappers, the singers, podcast hosts, entrepreneurs. Good hard working people who want the chance to tell their story and who want to cross promote to get the word out about the things they are doing that people need to be hearing about. We exist to give a voice to those who deserve recognition who may not be getting it. We want to hear from them and we are just a DM, email, or text message away.
