Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ma’at Seba. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ma’at, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Actually, my purpose found me. In approximately 1992-3, I had a very mystical experience, which is when I received my calling from the Divine. I was not totally clear at that time what my calling would entail and even to this day it is still unfolding. During the experience of my spiritual calling, I have had to endure great personal sacrifices and much emotional pain. Because I was in such a state of fear and doubt and did not trust in the Divine to assist me through these challenges, I had to learn the true meaning of surrender and faith. I have learned that when you give your life over, via a sacred contract with the Divine, to a life of self-less service to humanity, it comes with a heavy responsibility, “When much is given much is expected”. Over the next 15 years I learned about surrender and faith through some life challenges that had me to face my greatest fears as well as losing three cars, my home, my job, I could not draw unemployment or public assistance and my children and I ended up basically homeless then ultimately moving in with my family at 40 yrs. old.
In contrast to the sacrifices, fear and pain, I have had so many powerful spiritual experiences such as being blessed with a spiritual community (family) with a powerful spiritual sisterhood as well as powerful spiritual brothers, watching relationships heal, finding forgiveness after divorce, witnessing miracle healings, discovering my latent talents and gifts as well as an inner strength that I could not have conceived of attaining. I have also been given some Spirit inspired writings that have been, and will be helpful towards the spiritual transformation and elevation of those who read them. The most recent aspect of my spiritual journey has been with a program that took me four years to development, and has profoundly changed the lives of the participants; it is called “Relationship First Aid”.
Relationship First Aid is a facilitated or self-guided format designed to promote mental, emotional and spiritual transformation. It is a compilation of ancient Egyptian teachings, spiritually inspired writings, esoteric and healing information along with my personal teachings. Before I began to teach this information, I first applied it to my own life in which I experienced dramatic life transforming results.
It was only at the end of the four-year development of this program that I really realized how profound this information was. I understood that I was given the keys to the gateways of both heaven and hell (both are states of consciousness or state of mind). By that I mean that when a person is happy or loving or peaceful, they are in a consciousness or mindset of what heaven (if it were an actual place) would be perceived to feel like. Examples of that consciousness is when you look into the eyes of your lover, when you are looking at breathtaking scenery, looking at your newborn for the first time etc. These are happy or loving or blissful moments, heavenly moments. On the other hand, if you lost your only source of income, were physically violated, a loved one died, or are in insurmountable debt, this mindset or consciousness is like hell. Other hellish mindsets are anytime you feel intense fear, anger, guilt, jealousy, depression or resentment etc.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a proud mom of three and a even prouder grandmom of two, all of them are great spirits and they are the wind beneath my wings and the reason why I have dedicated my life to make this a better world for them. I have been on my spiritual walk since childhood. Along my spiritual journey, my life has taken many twists and turns, it has been one of pleasure and pain, faith and fear, wisdom and ignorance, health and sickness, order and chaos, all intertwined with spirituality and mysticism. As far back as I can remember, I have been spiritually guided through all of my life’s challenges. My childhood was loving and stable, I attended good schools, my family vacationed together and we all, including my three awesome children, worked at our family-owned soul food restaurant and later, health food store. In contrast, in my earlier adult life some of the things that I experienced were cancer, three injury accidents, numerous illnesses and surgeries, divorce, a near death experience, homelessness, severe depression and the loss of a child. These were some of the greatest and most painful challenges (lessons) that I have experienced and would have to grow, elevate and heal from. Initially I was very bitter and resentful of those experiences, but now I have a clear understanding of the meaning of life, what it is about, and a different perspective of what life’s experiences are really for. Around 1992 I started a black history study group and some of the members of the group were scholars in their own right. Several of them being the direct students/disciples of one of the world’s most prolific scholars, Dr. Yosef Ben-Jochannan (Dr. Ben) in African history and culture so I was blessed with the opportunity to learn true history by sitting at the foot of the masters. Through my studies of African culture, I learned about the many Egyptian deities one of them being Goddess Ma’at and how the ancient rulers in Egypt would adhere to, and structure their dynasties based upon the laws and precepts of Goddess Ma’at (the Goddess of Truth Balance, Harmony, Reciprocity, Justice, Right Order and Universal Laws) thus creating balanced and harmonious societies for thousands of years.
My name Ma’at was spiritually given to me and I fearfully rejected accepting it for over a year because I understood the responsibility of carrying the name of a deity, and I did not feel that I could uphold that. After a year and a half of refusing the name, I had a very mystical experience, which was a confirmation to me to accept the name. Soon thereafter I was “tested/initiated” with a scenario which gave me the option to lie (the main attribute of Ma’at is Truth) or to tell the truth. If I lied, the only person that would ever have known would be me (and God), and if I told the truth I faced serious legal ramifications. I chose to tell the truth. As a result, everything worked out smoothly, and to my benefit. I had passed my initiation! There have been tests since then, but none as nerve wracking as that one. So, my name comes with a heavy responsibility, one that I do not take lightly but that I am honored to aspire to and work towards being a reflection of.
My goal professionally is to expand my business into new arenas such a youth mentoring and becoming a peer and substance abuse counselor of which I am taking courses for now. I also aspire one day to have a line of spiritual based jewelry and to produce a series of movies using spiritual principles as the theme to share a different outlook and possible resolutions to life’s many challenges.
Something that I’m most proud of (I call it my baby) is my prison ministry which I started approximately 25 years ago teaching the Relationship First Aid program to the inmates resulting in profound transformative results. One of the inmates who happened to be a lifer, shared with me that through following the principles of the programs teaching and incorporating it into his lifestyle that he is the happiest that he has ever been in his life…and he is sentenced to life! In the classes sharing a self-analysis process and the spiritual laws were the main components and the focus was on monitoring your thoughts (the Law of Mentalism/ Thought or Mind). He focused on changing his thoughts with the full understanding that his thoughts will manifest into his physical reality, and with regular application of the spiritual laws he is a living testimony because he is now up for parole and will be released in the next two months, again, he was sentenced to life!
Another aspect of my life is being a healer and an empath. I have learned several alternative healing modalities such as Reiki of which I have been at mastery level for around 30 years now as well as Theta Breath and Therapeutic Touch. My family owned a health food store where I managed the store for approximately 15 years thus building my knowledge base of holistic health and nutrition.
In my spiritual world, I am a bit of a neophyte in astrology and numerology. I have always loved mysticism so I have had many experiences with the spirit realm, by seeing spirits, other types of beings, interactions with animals, plants, trees etc. I have a spiritual family of men and women who are powerful healers, teachers, writers and creatives in their own right. I have been the co-facilitator in spiritual circles where we discuss inner healing, spiritual principles and the processes towards spiritual enlightenment.
The most exciting thing about my calling and my business is that when I have shared something with someone and I see what I call “the light” come on in their eyes. What that means to me is that they have had an awakening, an epiphany, a new awareness and from that point on that their life, on some level will be transformed. Once the light comes on within people it serves as a guide to propel them with a desire want to know more, to want to be better, to want to heal, to begin to walk their journey of self-discovery. Between the Relationship First Aid program, lectures, classes and especially my time at the health food store I have helped tens of thousands of people. My next goal will be millions of people!
One of the things that makes Relationship First Aid so unique, and profound is that it uses spiritual laws and self-analysis as its foundation and it is a proven effective, non-emotionally invasive process that can address any aspect of life because everything is a relationship! How does a person relate to their family, mate, co-workers, neighbors, to food, their body, to their God, to nature, their pet, their money, other cultures, other races, their career, their spirituality? Above all, how does a person relate to themselves?
Currently I am preparing to restart my podcast called Relationship First Aid and I am really excited about that. I am a published writer and author as well, and have one book published called “Messages From the Goddess, Memoirs on Life’s Lessons – Alcohol or Spit, Which Would You Like?” which is about telling and living in truth. There are approximately nine more memoirs written that I will be publishing this year. I also have a product line of spiritual based items such as incense, crystals, sage smudge sticks, personal development cards, spiritual bath salts and oils.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three areas of knowledge that were/are the most impactful in my journey I would have to say were:
1) Following my intuition & spirit guides: I have always had strong intuitions but it took me years to even know what intuition was and even more so to follow those spiritual nudges or “gut feelings”. People might say these things which is their intuition guiding them: “I had a Feeling that that co-worker wasn’t right”, “I had a Feeling that something was wrong with the food at the restaurant and to not eat it”, “I had a Feeling that my friends new husband was a good person”, “I had a Feeling that my neighbor was sick”. It takes intentional practice to pay attention to those gut feelings and most importantly to be obedient to those feelings because the ego and the intellect will constantly rationalize away what you feel. Following your Spirit Guides is also critical, and we all have them because they are there to guide and protect you, however, as with the intuition it takes the intentional practice of Listening to your spirit guide. Most people refer to their guide as “Something” because they do not even know that they have a spirit guide. People will usually say “Something told me not to go to that party” or “Something told me to go to the doctor and get checked out” etc. Spirit guides vary but typically it is a person who had incarnated on this planet many times and are in a spiritually elevated enough level that once they transitioned, they chose to assist another soul here on earth in their transformation and spiritual growth. With the practice of listening you can develop a relationship with your guide and speak to them as if you would a live person. They will answer your questions, give you suggestions, and above all protect you If you Listen to their directions.
2) Spiritual Laws: There are many spiritual laws and, their purpose is to be the guidelines for human behavior. One of the most popular spiritual laws currently is the Law of Attraction, however, there are more and they all work synergistically to each other so if you violate one you violate them all. If you adhere to one, you adhere to them all. When I learned about the laws and applied them to my life, my life Completely Changed. They are the game changer in life and are the answer to living a life of chaos or peace.
3) Faith: I have lived through many challenges in life with many yet to come, but those challenges are what has build my faith up such that it is easier to navigate beyond the pits and valleys in life, handle grief and loss, know that there is Always an answer to All problems. And the knowing that “This too shall pass”. Also, it is important to find your group, your support system, your go-to person who will share wisdom and correct you when you need it.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am absolutely looking for people to partner with! There are many things I would love to be a part of because I love to bring people together such as hosting a round table discussion with those of like minds who want to bridge the gap of division between cultures, genders etc. However, the area of greatest need/desire right now is to partner with someone who is tech savvy to assist me with the podcast so that I can ultimately extend it to traveling to interview different people and to document their spiritual journey and the lessons that they have learned along the way. Also, a videographer and editor to assist with that and a marketing person to assist with social media (I’m from the old school so being consistent on social media platforms is a challenge for me LOL). I am also open to other types of partnerships in business as well.
