Meet Macee Binns And Fernanda Chaves And Mercedes Manning

We recently connected with Macee Binns And Fernanda Chaves And Mercedes Manning and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Macee Binns and Fernanda Chaves and Mercedes Manning with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

Black Sheep Casting was founded by us—casting directors Macee Binns, Fernanda Chaves, and Mercedes Manning. With Macee being from Arkansas, Fernanda, born and raised in Costa Rica and Mercedes, a California native, we each bring a unique background and a shared work ethic shaped by the values instilled in us growing up in hardworking households. Ten years ago, when we crossed paths while working an odd job, we never imagined our friendship would lead to the incredible creative partnership we share today.

From the start, we shared a passion for the entertainment industry and understood that succeeding in a competitive city like Los Angeles requires excelling in multiple areas, being open to new opportunities, and fostering meaningful relationships. As best friends and creative hyphenates, we’ve built a beautiful partnership that thrives on respect and admiration for one another’s unique strengths. Throughout the years, our varied creative endeavors behind and in front of the camera, taught us how to work under pressure, adapt quickly, and meet demanding expectations with grace and efficiency. These experiences shaped our ability to navigate the fast-paced nature of our industry while remaining committed to delivering high-quality results and fostering lasting relationships with our clients.

Black Sheep Casting is the result of the dynamic we’ve worked so hard to establish and it not only fuels our professional success but also allows our work and personal lives to complement one another, making the journey even more rewarding.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

As a female-founded and operated company with over 23 years of combined experience across a variety of creative roles, we have cultivated a sharp eye for talent and a deep understanding of the ever-evolving market demands. Our expertise lies in designing tailored casting strategies that harmonize client and director visions with production logistics and budget considerations. Our work has been showcased on some of the biggest stages, including the Super Bowl and the Cannes Film Festival, earning numerous awards and accolades. We manage casting locally, nationally, and internationally.

Our team excels in casting for commercials, film, television, reality shows, documentaries, game shows, music videos, print campaigns, and live events. We take pride in casting not only actors but also real people, unique businesses, celebrities, and influencers. Fluent in both Spanish and English, we bring a bilingual advantage to our projects. We also offer competitive pricing and innovative, collaborative solutions to meet the needs of any budget.

Since our official launch in August 2024, BSC has had the privilege of partnering with clients such as Wells Fargo, Sam Edelman, Johnny Walker, Netflix, and the UPS Store and we are thrilled for what 2025 has in store for us.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

If we had to boil down to the core of what makes us successful, it would be our dedication to creative problem-solving, our unwavering commitment to treating others with respect, and our ability to manage time effectively—even under tight deadlines. These values not only guide our work but also define how we build lasting relationships and deliver exceptional results in every project we undertake.

Our advice to aspiring creatives and future business owners is simple but powerful: trust in yourself and the unique value you bring to the table. Embrace the confidence to recognize your strengths, but also the humility to know when to step back and let others shine. Leadership isn’t about control—it’s about collaboration, understanding when to guide and when to follow.

Don’t shy away from taking risks. Every successful entrepreneur or creative once stood where you are now, uncertain but willing to take that leap of faith. Starting your own venture can feel daunting, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. Countless others have taken the plunge and succeeded, and you can too.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

We are always eager to connect with new clients who share our passion for creativity and collaboration. Whether you’re an ad agency, a commercial producer, or a creator in the world of TV and film, we are here to help you discover exceptional and unique talent that brings your vision to life. The possibilities for creative partnerships are truly limitless, and we thrive on finding innovative ways to meet the diverse needs of our clients.

We feel incredibly fortunate to have received such unwavering support from producers, directors, and ad agencies who have followed our journey from the beginning. Their belief in our mission and trust in our abilities have been instrumental in helping us establish and grow our new company. We are profoundly grateful for the opportunities they’ve provided, and we look forward to continuing to build on this foundation by forming new, meaningful collaborations in the future. Every partnership inspires us to push boundaries, exceed expectations, and deliver outstanding results.
