Hi MaChaude, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?

Being sure of yourself, and your abilities; along with confidence, is key. You cant be focused on being the “different” one in the room. Possibly you’re in the room because you’re different. What is different about you, may be the very thing that is needed in that room. There has been numerous instances where I was the only one that looked like me in the room. For change to happen, differences have to be invited. The success comes from being sure of yourself, and what you bring to the table. Any gift, talent, or insight that you have you must perfect it. Its not an overnight ordeal; it requires your time, and attention. To perfect what you possess brings about assurance amongst others that have different perspectives than you. The objective isn’t to convince others, its to bring about change for the better; change is the confirmation,

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am MaChaude J. Lowery of MaChaude Lowery Enterprises. Machaude Lowery Enterprises is a philanthropic organization purposed to push all people to prosper in all areas of life. “Moments with MaChaude” is the mental health hub of MaChaude Lowery Enterprises aired every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday via Social Media (@machaudelowery). “Moments with MaChaude” was launched after an intense personal journaling journey after the transition of my best friend. During that period, I suffered severe depression and three suicidal episodes. With strong faith and therapeutic support, I recovered back to a place of mental stability, which birthed “Moments with MaChaude”.One of the numerous services MLE offers is career development. I specialize in products and services to advance people, starting from the mental health perspective. One of my favorite sayings from “Moments with MaChaude” is “If you can change the way you think, you can change anything about your life!” I want everyone I encounter through MaChaude Lowery Enterprises to leave better than they came, through the products and services offered. What sets me apart from others is my genuine passion for people to prosper in all areas of life. There is no games or gimmicks for helping others through MaChaude Lowery Enterprises.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Communication, Determination, and Integrity. These qualities are not only important for everyday people, they’re vital to a leader. Communication is key in any relationship. In business, you can never be “too” thorough. The success rate for giving directive s, and receiving directives as detailed and thorough as possible, is unfathomable. You must be determined to accomplish the mission. Your business venture will experience hurdles, but it requires determination to overcome every obstacle. Determination is the key if you’re seeking success. Without determination failure is sure. Integrity is needed in business, being that it plays a vital role in your business’ reputation. Without integrity your business will not progress to the next phase of stability, leading to prosperity. Integrity is needed internally and externally in order for your business to prosper. These qualities and skills are not limited to business, but also everyday life.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

My Faith in God has been the most helpful in overcoming any challenge I’ve faced. My faith isn’t confined to overcoming obstacles, it is the reason of success that I’ve had thus far. I believe that your faith has to go beyond your feelings. It hasn’t been easy, but it has been worth it. Not only faith in God, but faith in yourself. You must be determined to succeed at any cost, regardless of any hurdle you may encounter. You must first believe in yourself, before you believe in anyone else. Faith is the thing inside of us that should fuel us beyond any doubt we experience.
