Meet Macy Tabor

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Macy Tabor a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Macy with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I get my work ethic from years of persevering. I started to sing at the age of 4 and was in public school. I also was in clubs and sports such as cheerleading and track. I am now a college student. I learned throughout the years if you really want to do something and you want to be successful in it, you will make time for it.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Macy Tabor and I am a 21 year old singer songwriter based in Nashville, Tennessee. I am from right down the road from Nashville in Manchester, Tennessee. I have all my music on all music streaming platforms and I am currently getting ready to release a song at the first of the year called, “Match Made in Hell”. I recently won a Josie Music Award for Country Vocalist of the Year at the Grand Ole Opry. I sing about 5 days a week on broadway at honky tonks such as Tootsies, Honky Tonk Central, Kid Rocks, and Rippys. I hope to be releasing more music in the next year and coming out with my own children’s book..

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Some important qualities that are important is motivation, perseverance, and dedication. One of the things that took all these qualities and is very important to me is vocal lessons. I have been taking vocal lessons since I was 9 from the same vocal coach, Janine Leclair.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
I usually sit down and write a song. It helps me deal with my emotions and to get over a situation. It also lays as a reminder of whatever it is that happened and how far I have came from then.
