We were lucky to catch up with Maddie A.k.a. Maddie Tha Baddie recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Maddie, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
I overcame imposter syndrome by realizing that everyone is just figuring it out as they go. We’re all human and no amount of status makes someone better than another. I also realized that there’s no “right” or “wrong” way to be a creative as long as you’re enjoying what you do and create.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I consider myself a visual artist. I’ve had an interest in video creation since I was about 9 years old, but didn’t really try to pursue it until my 20s. I also dabble into modeling every once in a while. My style is versatile and I can model a wide variety of looks, but my specialty is looking “fierce” which is why I got the nickname “Maddie Tha Baddie.” But my passion lies in making YouTube videos – whether I’m vlogging, storytelling, or just goofing around. Check my YouTube channel for new videos!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Resilience 2. Persistence 3. Belief in myself. I’m not a pro and would consider myself still early in my own journey, but all I know is those 3 are my pillars to keep going so I’ll eventually get to where I want to be. I’d also say you gotta be your biggest fan and be proud of what you do.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m always looking to collaborate with like minded people! When it comes to YouTube, I’m looking for people with vibrant personalities that can brainstorm ideas with me and be a natural on camera. For modeling, I’m looking for photographers that can help bring my artistic ideas to life or contribute their own creative ideas to make something dope.
