Madison, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
What’s not to be optimistic about when I get to be around dogs all the time? Dogs are pure love and happiness.
My optimism also stems from the fact that I am providing a valuable service to pet owners. By offering reliable and personalized pet and house sitting solutions and experiences, I can make a positive difference in our client’s lives, which gives me a sense of purpose. It’s an incredibly optimistic advantage to witness the growing trend of pet ownership and travel, especially in the last few years since the COVID shutdowns. More and more people began adopting pets. Furthermore, many people prefer to entrust their pets and homes to professional sitters rather than random people online, kennel facilities, or unvetted friends. Dog Sitting Company has a competitive advantage since we offer high-level, standardized service that you usually only see in historical luxury brands.
Coming from a large family of entrepreneurs has imbued me with creative spontaneity and unique business acumen. This has given me the ability to adapt to changing customer needs and experiment with new services and marketing strategies. At the end of the day, Dog Sitting Company gives me a sense of purpose and joy that allows me to be continuously excited and optimistic about the future.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
As the founder of the Dog Sitting Company, our main objective is to provide premium care for pets and homes when their owners are away. Our brand focuses on providing personalized care and attention to each client and their furry friends, ensuring that they’re comfortable and happy throughout their stay. What makes us stand out is our team of highly trained and experienced sitters who are passionate about animals and their well-being. We strive to establish long-term relationships with our clients by offering exceptional services. It is our pleasure to ensure that our clients can enjoy peace of mind while they’re away, knowing that their pets and homes are in good hands.
It’s been really exciting to see how our clients’ needs have shifted over the years. We’ve recently renovated our Dog Park Lounge to accommodate our client’s boarding and daycare service requests making a truly full-service petcare company.
At the end of the day, our mission and obligation is to always strive to take care of your pets better than you do. It’s part of the program of excellence every member of our team adheres to.
We focus on creating a stress-free environment for the pets and the home while the owners are away. The whole point of hiring a service like ours is so that you have peace of mind knowing that your dog or cat is not in a stressful environment at a chaotic kennel with hundreds of other barking dogs.
By having us, your pets won’t feel the trauma while you are away – and as a side benefit, having us around will ensure that the wrong people never realize no one is home. It all means that the pet owners will have less to worry about while they are away.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The core attributes that have supremely impacted the Dog Sitting Company’s journey are – a strong vision for the long road ahead, an undying love and passion for what you do, and an extreme dedication to excellence.
Having a vision of what the future could potentially look like has been one of the most important qualities that has impacted my business journey. Vision provides a clear direction and driving force toward achieving our goals. Vision coupled with passion and desire is incredibly important; if you are not passionate about what you do then when the hard times appear, it’ll be excruciating to endure. Businesses are not built overnight, they take years to develop. Vision, passion, and desire keeps you strong and resilient when people around you may not see the big picture in your mind like you do. Passion and desire also keeps you motivated to be present when your business or dreams require you to sacrifice your time, which you will be inspired to do willingly. These qualities have truly enabled us to stay focused on our mission, which is to always strive to take care of your pets better than you do, while maintaining a positive attitude and inspiring our team to do the same. Vision also helps us create a unique brand that reflects our values, which attracts customers and team members who share similar interests and beliefs.
As far as advice goes, if you have a dream or vision (even if it’s not completely vivid in your mind) that strokes your passion chords; do what Nike says and, “Just Do it.” You’ll be surprised to see things reveal themselves organically when you put your mind to something with intention. It’s not about knowing each exact step and HOW you will get to your destination, but the intention that you will get to the destination no matter what.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
Like many others over the last couple of years, the COVID shutdowns caused us to re-evaluate and make adjustments to our business. While we did see a slowdown in bookings due to people pausing travel and working from home – it gave us time to make core improvements. We were able to make changes to our marketing and add new key services. One of those services is dog boarding. The slow period gave us the time to remodel our Dog Park Lounge. Adding services and improving our facility gave us the ability to hit the ground running once clients began traveling again and going back to work in the office. Those efforts paid huge dividends as we saw our biggest 4th quarter at the end of 2022 in our company’s entire 7-year history. The biggest challenge we now face is building our exceptional sitter team to ensure that we don’t have to turn potential clients away due to overbookings. Keeping the momentum going as we continue to grow will be just as crucial as making sure we are able to maintain the high level of service our clients rely on.
