Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Madison Hendrick. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Madison, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
My confidence and self esteem comes from how passionate I am about my endeavors mixed with what I have been able to overcome. I know it sounds like a clichè but I seen myself as an underdog. Whether it’s lack or resources or people doubting me growing up, I have always used nay sayers as fuel to push forward. Even as a kid if you were to tell me I couldn’t do something I would go above and beyond to prove that I’m not one that should be counted out. I don’t know why but doubt has always been a motivating factor in my life. It’s like reverse psychology works best on me and I don’t like to take no for an answer. However there is a fine line between confidence and being arrogant. My mission is show others that if I can do it so can you. It’s about putting your mind to it and locking in. I never want it to seem like I’m arrogant or overly cocky because at the end of the day I don’t believe that anyone is any better than anyone. It’s all about the recognizing that it’s a blessing to wake up each morning and that life is a gift from God. It’s up to us to make each one of our 24 hours count.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My name is Madison Hendrick I was born and raised in the DMV (The Washington DC area.) I am a US Navy veteran who has always loved to entertain. I found my way into the acting industry by mixing, mingling and networking. I consider myself to be pretty resourceful, as I have been successful in finding ways to open doors to my aspirations and goals .I have always wanted to be on the big screen as a child. So to accomplish what small victories I have is an example of hope to anyone who has a dream that seems unreachable. Acting to me is a form of therapy. It allows my inner child to be expressed. It’s like the feeling you would get as a kid when you play and go from being cops and robbers to pretending to be your favorite athlete or musician. To me the best part is the work put in to form a character, and no matter the script no two actors will bring a character to life the same way. My love for the arts allows me to feel like anything is possible you just have to believe in yourself and put the work in. My message to anyone who aspires to be apart of the entertainment industry or just become an entrepreneur in general is to always put God first, believe in yourself and go for it because you only live once.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Well I know I touched on this a little bit in the last question, but I think my best qualities are being able to be persistent and never allow a NO to discourage me. Also my resourcefulness and being able to engage and find the right avenues to proceed on my journey. The best advice I can give is to keep pushing and believe in yourself until others believe in you. Understand that anything worth having or accomplishing takes hard work and dedication.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am always down to collaborate with others. If we are on the same page with a similar vision why not collaborate and create? If you have an idea for a creative endeavor I’m always down to listen. You can reach me through my IG KingGordoDMV. That’s where I try to connect with other artist’s to either help encourage one another or collab on future projects. The fun is coming together and creating something and watching it come to life. Shoutout to all the creatives and independent artists.
