Meet Madison Marten

We recently connected with Madison Marten and have shared our conversation below.

Madison, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I owe my work ethic to my parents, who are both incredible role models & hard workers. I started babysitting in high school after school, doordashing on the weekends, and was proud to graduate cum laude. From there, I worked 2 jobs throughout college, both as a server at local restaurants and a delivery driver, often working 30-40 hours during the week, on top of school. I was also proud again to graduate with honors. I learned how to put my head down & get the work done that I needed to, time manage, persevere, and not let my grades or friendships slip. I thank my mom and dad for proving it’s all possible from young age!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

We help service-based small business owners quit wasting resources on underperforming digital marketing efforts by filling in the gaps of their online presence with result-driven web design, SEO & advertising so they can get back to running their business! From A→Z, we create a customized plan for your business that fills in the gaps in your digital marketing efforts. You work directly with us from beginning to end. If you’re ready to finally see your investment pay off, remove the tedious marketing tasks fully off your to-do list, and have a trusting relationship with a continual open line of communication with an experienced agency, jo + leigh marketing is the team for you!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Great question! First, don’t overlook the technical side of things. It’s easy to say “oh I’m not a technical person” and try to get by not knowing intricately how areas of your scope really work, but that’s not the path with the most value. We’ve had to dive in, and get really in the weeds of a lot of areas we didn’t think we’d need to – and are always better off from it! Second, persistence to keep going when things get tough – it’s cheesy, but it’s true. Hard times and situations will keep coming, and you have to trust that you are prepared for it. Finally, knowing when to say no. It’s easy in our line for business to want to say yes to every client that inquires with us, but overtime, we’ve learned to trust when our values don’t align to a potential client, and to say “we don’t think this is a good fit” instead of trying to force it to work.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

Our ideal client is someone who is as passionate about their business/project/organization as we are about jo + leigh! It could be a small scope for a passion project they need help with, but often that’s more rewarding than a huge project that feels distant and like you’re just “checking boxes” for them.
