Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Madison Thurman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Madison, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from everything I have been through in my life. Knowing that I am the only person responsible for how successful I am in life.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I was adopted at two years old. I started having issues with my foster parents when I got into high school, which resulted in me spending most of my teenage years in institutions, transitional living homes, and youth homeless shelters. I graduated from Fairfax Learning Center in 2017 with valedictorian of my class all while I was living in the youth homeless shelter. After I graduated I started to take my artistic skills more seriously and started doing gallery shows, art auctions in Kansas City, and I had the honor to be apart of the Kansas City museum. I am a small business owner of M.N.T Art, LLC. I have donated over $83,000 to homeless youth in Kansas City and still plan on donating more. Majority of my art proceeds go to homeless youth. My goal is to be able to give back to my city. My business provides custom made art for a good cause.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Knowing yourself is very important when you are making any decisions in life. Always make your decisions based on your morals and the goals you set for yourself. Always be grateful for what you have. Everybody’s journey and path is different in life. You can have millions one day and the next day have nothing. Live in the moment and be grateful for your blessings. Having compassion for others is important. You never know what somebody else is going through. Always be kind to others even when they are not so kind to you. Having faith and creating a strong support system is important. Don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m looking to collaborate with other artists and charities around Kansas and all over the world. I would to be able to share my art and my story with others. I hope to inspire millions around the world. I’m always open to new ideas and ways to build and help communities in need. I love donating my art to auctions and to charities around the world.
