We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Madisonk Knezevich a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Madisonk, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
when I stared SkinHaus, imposter syndrome was one of my biggest hurdles to overcome. I quickly realized confidence comes from showing up for yourself and your business everyday, continuously learning, and trusting the results I was creating for my clients. To this day, I am combating imposter syndrome by reminding myself that growth comes from experience and I will only fail when I stop trying. Owning my expertise and believing in the value I offer to my clients has been key.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m the founder of SkinHaus, a skincare studio built on the belief that skin is a blend of science, consistency, and self care. I started with a passion for skincare, and wanted to create a space where result-driven treatments could meet a personalized luxurious treatment. What excites me most is helping women feel confident in their skin, whether that is through guidance, curated skincare routines, or education. As my business continues to grow, I’m focusing on expanding beyond the treatment room bringing my expertise to more people through product recommendations, online content, and a community driven approach to skincare.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I feel my three qualities most impactful in my journey are all involved with my client experience.
1. building genuine trust with clients, trust is the foundation of everything I do. From the beginning I have prioritized honesty and transparency with my clients, recommending ONLY what benefits my clients rather than pushing trends or unnecessary treatments. My goal is long term results, not quick fixes.
2. Deep client involvement – I don’t just trust skin, I get to know my clients on a personal level. Skincare isn’t a one size fits all, and I take the time to understand not only their skin concerns, but also lifestyles, stressors, and routines.
3. Authenticity – I focus on being genuine in every interaction, and believe treating others with sincerity and care creates lasting and positive relationships. By staying true to myself and fostering an authentic connection with the community, I trust doing good will ALWAYS come back around.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My parents instilled a deep-rooted work ethic and sense or responsibility at an early age. They had my “working” a job cleaning a gym at 10 years old. I worked my way through middle school and high school while staying active in sports. It taught me discipline, resilience, and teamwork. Watching their relentless dedication and hard work showed me firsthand that success comes through perseverance, lessons that continue to shape both my personal and professional journey.
