Meet Magdalena Galarraga

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Magdalena Galarraga. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Magdalena below.

Magdalena, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

For me, creativity mutates with the different stages of my life.

I keep it alive by always seeking inspiration. Sometimes by looking back at history, past projects, or personal experiences, and sometimes by looking forward to what could be next. Especially in design, so many trends are inspired by older ones, but they renew themselves and feel fresh while still echoing the past.

I see creativity as connecting the dots: the more you look, learn, and absorb, the more connections you’re able to make. That’s where new ideas are born.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m the COO at Brainding, a 25+ year old design agency with offices in Miami and Buenos Aires, where I help turn creative ideas into impactful brands and digital experiences.

What excites me most is combining creativity with strategy, making design that’s not only beautiful but also meaningful and effective.

My career has taken me through art, fashion, luxury, and tech. From interning at art auction houses and luxury fashion houses to building startups and consulting brands.

What makes Brainding special is our approach: we combine decades of experience with a willingness to experiment, helping clients create brands that endure and resonate. Every project is an opportunity to challenge norms, explore new ideas, and push design in ways that feel fresh while honoring the legacy of the agency.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are perseverance, creativity, and curiosity.

Perseverance has allowed me to keep pushing forward even when projects or ideas hit obstacles or fail.

Creativity, or the ability to think outside the box, has helped me find unique solutions and approach challenges from new angles.

Having a broad base of knowledge across different fields has made it easier to connect ideas, see patterns, and innovate.

For anyone early in their journey, my advice is to embrace challenges, actively seek inspiration from different sources, and never stop learning. These are the foundations that allow ideas to grow

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

I don’t think there’s an ‘ideal’ client. Every client brings a unique challenge, and that’s what makes our work exciting. I love collaborating with businesses of all sizes, industries, and stages, because each one gives us the opportunity to create something new and meaningful. Every project is a chance to solve a different problem and build something great together.
