Meet Mahlleh

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mahlleh. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mahlleh below.

Mahlleh , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I honestly believe I get my resilience from my mother. The first time I had ever heard of the word was when I was a little girl and someone had described my
Mother as the most resilient women they knew. My mom struggled a lot in life and I know she wasn’t perfect but looking back growing up I know she loved her kids and she tried her best to be a better person. When she failed to be one she definitely put it in my head to be better than her and was real about her mistakes with me. I feel like her honesty rubbed off on me and definitely has helped me become resilent in any situation.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Im Mahlleh (pronounced Ma-Lay) I am a musician from San Jose , ca. Most known as a singer/emcee in the hip-hop scene. Before I dedicated my branding to my solo career, I was a full-time work for hire musician playing strings and percussion for touring bands and local residencies. I still incorporate live instrumentation and sound design in my solo work. I also still do work for hire events for various musicians and artists in the hip-hop / R&B scene.

On September (9/9/24) I released a song called “Tru Colours” featuring the SF Bay Areas Legendary Rapper Equipto. He was most known for his hit record he released with Andre Nickatina in the 90’s called “Jungle”. My 2nd feature on the Song is an upcoming LA emcee by the name of Destruct. Hes best known for his collaborations with Benny the Butcher & Deltron Blac. Tru Colours is produced, mixed and masterd by Conneticut engineer 6 West.

In october , I will be setting off on a Westcoast Tour with Australian entertainment company Mad Fap and their catalog of artists. I will also be releasing the music video for “Tru Colours” which will be directed/filmed/ edited by 916gfx productions.

In November I Plan on releasing my 2nd Full Length Album titled “Story of the Road” where I pay homage to my city San Jose,CA. On this project, I talk about my experiences of being born an raised in a city like mine. It is produced by San Jose Producer HAZ and mixed and mastered by 6 West. It will also be featuring a San Jose upcoming Artist named Devien. Exact Release Date will Be announce in October.

In December I plan to release an EP Called “It Aint my fault” where I will be featuring various artists such as Lil Drake, Klassifyde, Trench9God and more. This EP will be the last collection of Hip-Hop songs for a while before I make my transition into a More Acoustic/Alternative/ Rock genre

2025 I will be focusing more on Live Band projects and touring internationally.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I think the 3 most important qualities that have made the most impact on my journery has been Understanding, Patience, and ambition.

Working with so many poeple from all walks of life and different work ethics understanding has helped give grace in hard situations where I might have conflicting ideas or even work ethics that others have. Understanding has also helped me give a level of forgiveness when poeple don’t treat me the way I expect to be treated at work.

Patience is one of the many things I have to learn when working on music. Having the patience to see projects come to full term. Having the patience when working with others and unexpected occurences make deadlines be pushed back. I would say patience is key when learning new music and rehearsing with acts and bands for my work for hire performances.

Another key skill is ambition. If you don’t have a drive to pursue the things you want in this industry you wont want to push yourself to develop patience or understanding for what comes with the work. Over all it has been ambition that has kept me consistant. It has been ambition that has kept me strivjng for growth in all elements of my character, Talent and proffessionalism. Ambition has been the glue that kept my career intact I would say.

And I will definitely say if you want to continue growing in this field of the Music business these 3 skills are definitely worth applying and learning in your everyday life.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

The Most impactful thing my parents ever did for me was encourage me to be a musician and believe in myself and pursue what makes me happy. I was given instruments to play by the age of Four and throughout my entire life when my parents were alive. One of my moms memorable quotes she told me right before she passed “ Dont let nobody stop you from being happy, if you wanna be a rockstar be that” and she really thought I could do it when I always said I was going to be one as a little girl. My dad would buy me instruments even though we didnt have the money for it. They always both made sacrifices to see me become the skillful musician I am even as a toddler and adolecent. Honestly if it wasnt for their support in my staying up long nights rehearsing, paying for equipment and lessons, driving me to shows and giving me the encouragement I needed to achieve my goals. I probably would’t have the ambition I do to do well in my line of work.
