We were lucky to catch up with Maikel Eskander recently and have shared our conversation below.
Maikel, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from a deep-seated belief in the inherent goodness of people. I genuinely believe that, at their core, most individuals have positive intentions and a desire to make meaningful contributions to their communities. This perspective has been shaped by my personal experiences—whether it’s seeing the resilience of clients navigating complex challenges or witnessing acts of kindness in unexpected moments. Optimism, for me, is a choice to focus on potential solutions rather than obstacles. It’s what drives me to approach each day with energy, purpose, and a sense of gratitude for the opportunities to make a difference in both my personal and professional life.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m Maikel Eskander, and I’m the founder of Capital Partners Law, a boutique law firm based in South Florida that focuses on business and real estate law. My journey into law was driven by a passion for helping individuals and businesses navigate complex legal landscapes, so they can focus on growth and success without unnecessary roadblocks.
At Capital Partners Law, we pride ourselves on being more than just legal advisors—we see ourselves as strategic partners. What sets us apart is our ability to combine deep legal expertise with a personalized, client-centered approach. We understand that no two businesses or real estate ventures are the same, so we craft tailored solutions that address each client’s unique needs and goals.
What excites me most about this work is the opportunity to play a pivotal role in my clients’ stories. Whether it’s closing a complex real estate transaction, resolving a legal dispute, or structuring a deal that sets a business up for long-term success, it’s incredibly rewarding to witness the positive impact our work has on their lives and ambitions.
Beyond the legal world, I’m focused on building meaningful relationships within the community and sharing knowledge through our firm’s weekly blog. On our website, we provide insights into topics like Florida business laws, real estate trends, and legal strategies to empower our readers.
At the heart of everything I do is a commitment to integrity, innovation, and excellence. I’m always looking for ways to expand our impact, whether it’s through the work we do for our clients or giving back to the community that has supported us so much.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, three qualities and skills have been instrumental in shaping my journey: adaptability, relationship-building, and strategic thinking.
Adaptability: Life and business rarely go exactly as planned, and being able to adjust to unexpected changes has been critical. Whether it’s navigating evolving client needs, adapting to shifts in the market, or finding creative solutions to complex problems, staying flexible has allowed me to turn challenges into opportunities. My advice to others is to embrace change as a learning experience. Read widely, stay curious, and surround yourself with people who challenge you to see the world from new perspectives.
Relationship-Building: Success, especially in law and business, often hinges on the strength of your relationships. I’ve found that treating people with respect, showing genuine interest in their goals, and consistently delivering value builds trust that stands the test of time. For those just starting, focus on networking in a way that feels authentic to you. It’s not about collecting contacts—it’s about building meaningful connections. Invest time in listening and understanding others’ needs, and don’t be afraid to ask how you can help them.
Strategic Thinking: The ability to think ahead and see the bigger picture has been essential in making sound decisions for both my clients and my business. Developing this skill takes practice. Start by asking yourself, “What’s the long-term impact of this decision?” or “How does this align with my goals?” Seek mentors who can challenge your assumptions and push you to think critically about your plans.
For those early in their journey, my overarching advice is to focus on growth rather than perfection. Be willing to take risks, learn from your mistakes, and continuously refine your craft. Success is a marathon, not a sprint, and the habits and mindset you build now will shape your future.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Absolutely! I’m always open to collaborating with entrepreneurs and small-to-medium business owners in South Florida. Whether you’re looking for legal guidance, strategic partnerships, or simply someone to brainstorm with, I’d love to connect and explore how we can support each other’s goals. Collaboration is one of the best ways to spark innovation and growth, and I’m passionate about building relationships that create mutual value.
