We recently connected with Majiye Uchibeke and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Majiye, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I found my purpose by paying attention to the things around me that felt wrong, unfair, or broken, and then asking myself what I could do about them. At the core, my purpose comes from what I deeply care about: the need to create, to bring things to life and to reimagine what’s possible. Whether it’s through storytelling, design, or building platforms, I’m always drawn to projects that allow me to respond to the world, not just as it is, but as it could be.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a film director and movie streaming content strategist. My film I Am More Dangerous Dead, a tribute to Nigerian writer and environmental activist Ken Saro-Wiwa, won the Directors Guild of America Student Award, screened at the BAFTAs and other numerous festivals. I’m also a movie streaming content strategist at Pluto TV, where I curate programming that reaches over 7.1 million monthly viewers globally.
Alongside that, I founded TAILORED (www.tlrdofficial.com), a clothing brand that connects people who want affordable, custom-made clothing with skilled tailors and designers. As part of its giveback initiative, TAILORED donates school uniforms to children in underserved communities, helping them show up to school with pride and dignity.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been resilience, curiosity, and creative problem-solving.
Resilience helped me keep going through setbacks, personal loss, and the uncertainty of building a creative career. Curiosity pushed me to explore beyond what I knew, learning new skills, crossing disciplines, and staying open to unexpected opportunities. And creative problem-solving has been essential in both filmmaking and entrepreneurship, from telling powerful stories with limited resources to launching TAILORED with a mission-driven model.
For anyone starting out, I’d say: build resilience by showing up even when it’s hard, nurture curiosity by always asking questions and staying open to learning, and sharpen your problem-solving by embracing challenges as chances to innovate.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes, we’re actively looking for collaborators to work with in TAILORED. Our goal is to donate 2,000 school uniforms a year to children in need, and we welcome people passionated about our cause and interested in supporting our giveback mission by shopping our designs. We’re also seeking fashion publicists, models, stylists, and creatives to collaborate as we grow the brand.
